Pregame gathering

In an effort to get even further hyped up, to meet more of the people who voted me onto the Council and just enjoy good beer I will be hanging out at Elysian Fields on Thursday. Probably from about 3:30PM until prior to kickoff, or so.

I'm inviting coworkers, people from the 214 and readers of the blog. If you plan on making an afternoon of it please let me know, as I would like let them know roughly how many and get a few tables together or a room or something.

Wear your scarf everyday. Kits/Jerseys/T-Shirts/whatever as well. This is a huge week for Seattle soccer, and should be for Seattle sports as well. On Saturday I am scheduled to talk Sounders with Dick Fain on KJR-AM Seattle. More details on that as they come.

I’ll be there from 5 until march to the match

Me too. I will get there with my son in tow. He’s 5 months and has already been to every home game — its never too early to become a fan.

I’ll try to drop in. It depends what time I get out of Bellingham, among other factors.

Enjoy folks. This is good of you to set up, Dave. I won’t be getting out of work until later, and then I meet up with my seat mates at our usual pregame watering hole for a quick one.

Anyone else sensing it’s going to feel kind of weird at the end of the game? Like leaving at halftime?

I do, Peter. It has taken me some time to wrap my head around how to cheer for the game.
Sigi made mention of it being a little like a 7 game series, but that’s not quite right. Because in multi-game series, each game is distinct and the point totals don’t effect the next game.

Sigi’s other analogy of it being “one long game” is more apt. And it definitely means that no matter the outcome it’s gonna feel kind of weird to leave at what is effectively half time.

I think the only way I’m going to feel jazzed and maybe even a little releaved leaving the stadium is if we are up 3-0 at the “half”.

Dave as your fellow season ticket holder seatmate I will be there for sure!!! a little after 4 then plan on losing my voice at the game. Go Sounders!!!

yikes, last two posts don’t sound confident at all!

I’d be super happy if we won this match, 2-0. i feel we need to end this game up some goals as we probably won’t fare as well down in houston. i don’t think they’d necessarily beat us down there, but if we are to tie on the 8th, i’d like to see us up a goal or two for safety on this match.

if we lose this first match, the next one one the 8th will be a true test.

dave – i’m just going to wander the entire area around qwest and bounce around for pre-game. i don’t have any allegiances to go anywhere specific, so i just usually go wherever.
