MLS Cup Final on Field Turf
Yes, MLS fans, despite all that is right with this league you still get your opportunity to bitch and moan. Qwest Field will be Field Turf for the Cup Final, as the temporary sod would have been unsafe for players.
- MLS worked very closely with the Qwest Field and Sounders FC staff to analyze all of the options to bring in temporary natural grass for MLS Cup at Qwest Field.
- One of the top priorities for this year's championship match is to provide the safest and best playing surface possible for both teams, and after extensive research (MLS) collectively believes it will be artificial surface.
I am, and will remain so until evidence is provided to counter it, faithful that great Field Turf is better than average natural grass. In Qwest we have great Field Turf. Could it be better? Certainly, but in November with Seahawks and Sounders both using it there is no way grass could be better, and certainly not a temporary solution.
Complain away MLS fans. We've gotten good at it.

Grass does not always = grass. So, a team that deserves the MLS Cup should be competent enough to be able to adapt to field turf, just like adapting to different types/quality of grass. I see no problem with using it for the play off.

I think that most people who complain about Fieldturf have never played on it or played on a very low quality surface. If the league tried to play any type of game on Astroturf or the like I would be screaming and hollering as much as the next guy, but good quality Field turf is simply another story.
