Philly acquire #7 pick from United
Also Allocation Dollars and former DC United Attacking Midfielder Fred. This is the first of the pre-draft deals to go down and it clearly favors the Union. Yes, DC United gets better by getting Troy Perkins to be their keeper instead of stomp boy, but United have so many issues that they need more. Their secondary benefit is that they also get a bit of freedom from whatever the salary cap winds up being next season.
Are we going to see more deals? Almost certainly.

Black and Red United with their thoughts on the deal
They love getting Perkins back, but I had overlooked that DCU does not have a pick now until the 4th round.

It did seem like a lot to give up
They get their old keeper back, sure, but I think they’re in trouble.
won't this hurt DC United against the salary cap
The allocations went to Philly. Or is there something else going on? (Could be. You seem to learn about a new MLS rule every other day).
It actually turned out salary cap neutral
as they are paying Perkins basically the same as they paid Fred.
Allocation dollars are always off the cap, and so can’t effect it.

Philly sent just allocation money to Dallas for the No. 6.
They now have three of the top seven picks. Interesting
Maybe the Seahawks should go after their GM.
That’s pretty impressive.
desperate to replace Stompy McStomperson, I guess!
...that's MISTER Keller to you!!!

United has a ton of cap room.
Dropping Emilio, Olsen retiring, etc. has us in a good position to pay for some more talent. Question is will they identify and be able to sign players that can help in attack.
