Around SBN: Chauncey Billups Injures Achilles Tendon

And, now back to the no-drama Sounders that we know and love.

I can say that the reason I missed training this week was because of a communication error due to the business discussions. I had by this point already committed to playing with the Sounders next year, which I am very excited about.

I’m very grateful to all the clubs who have shown a great interest in my services but as I’ve always said I want to go back to America and play for Seattle. Based on the latest news I’ve heard from both sides, there wont be a lock out or strike on Feb 1. So from Feb 1 I will be with my team in Seattle trying to help them become the best team in America.

I CAN HAPPILY SAY THAT IT FEELS VERY NICE TO BE ABLE TO KEEP MY WORD. SORRY THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH SPECULATION

Excellent, and well put.

great news!

All good news. I’ve been trying to calm my fellow Rave Green fans all week, but the optics were bad yesterday and the crazy CBA stalling was making me nervous.

Hard not to love Freddie.

PS: I’ve been traveling and working like a dog. My attention is back to Sounders. Thanks for all of the great off season writing. It should be an interesting spring.

what does this mean about the CBA?

given Riley’s comments and Freddie’s post does this point to a positive resolution?

No Strike, No Lockout

But maybe no agreement.

Both sides agreeing to continue business as usual while they negotiate

I'm wondering

if there will be any backtracking by Sigi or Keller, or if everyone will just pretend that nothing was said about Freddie and his dedication to the team. Also, I’m wondering why Adrian didn’t head this off, if he had talked to Freddie before the quotes came out.

it should be water under the bridge

But Sigi was correct, it was not OK for Freddie to not be at camp on day 1 and Adrian has come out and clearly said the FO did not have the understanding that Freddie would be back on Feb 1, they were under the impression he would be at camp until they spoke that morning (even though Freddie’s agent thought he told the FO otherwise). That they spoke the morning of the opening of camp doesn’t make it OK.

The player’s union clearly said players should show up for camp, and no one else was confused as to what the first day was, though everyone else is also affected by the whole CBA mess. Freddie is on a team and should be a leader, he can’t expect to be treated differently.
