Matt Gaschk on KJR with Softy - on Nkufo coming out of the attacking third

Here's a blurb from audio about how Nkufo played in the USOC finals. Softy: Tell me about Nkufo coming out of the attacking third of the field, because he goes back into the midfield a lot. Matt Gaschk: Against Columbus in particular when you saw him coming back into the midfield, what’s he’s doing is drawing Chad Marshall, who’s their best defender, away from the goal, and really giving Fredy Montero more space closer to the goal, which is where, you know, when Fredy Montero has the ball closest to the goal he’s dangerous. So [Nkufo] is drawing players away, and really getting them out of their comfort zone because they have to mark him. They can’t leave him open because they saw what happened the first time around when they left him open; he scored 3 goals against them. So by him coming back into the midfield away from the attacking third, he’s creating more space and more opportunities for Fredy Montero, and in turn Steve Zakuani and Sanna Nyassi as well. We kind of saw the results of that as well; Sanna Nyassi scored 2 goals.
