With a tie clinching a playoff spot for the Sounders, and earning their starters some much deserved rest, this still represents an important match. While points are not absolutely necessary, it sure would be nice to not have to worry about the postseason in the final two matches.
We expect Sigi to go with his standard lineup, the one he's used more than any other this season. That means Sanna Nyassi -- not away on national team duty after all -- and Nathan Sturgis starting. At this point, it's really hard to argue with the results anyway, so maybe the Alvaro Fernandez coming out party will just have to wait a little longer.
Here's what Sigi had to say about Flaco and Nate Jaqua not getting as much time as they probably expected they would: "There is definitely competition but it’s a situation where the team is going well so generally you try not to change that around too much. Nyassi is having a good run. Zakuani is going well. It’s working the way it’s working right now so it’s a little tougher to get in there. But, for sure, those two guys are excellent players and they are going to contribute as we go forward. You never know when an injury comes. You never know when you need to change something."
It has also been announced that Mike Fucito is fit and ready to play. He will be on the travelling roster.
