Former Captain of La Liga Side, yet Felix Ettien is only Trialist with Sounders FC

Another week, another trialists. This time it is Felix Dja Ettien. I haven't read the 'net reaction yet. Probably much a flutter over a former captain of a La Liga side (Levante UD) coming in for trial. Sure he fills a need as Right Midfielder, who leans towards the offensive side of things having spent time up top and in the middle as well.

But reality can get in the way of celebration. After a 2007/2008 season in which he captained the side he was cut loose. His side was sent down to the Segunda, after their 3 of 4 years being up, but really just hovering around the bottom of the table.

And when cut, even with a Spanish passport he did not play for a year. He later signed with a Romanian Second Division club and now just under five months later he's on trial with Seattle.

This is more a "lightning in bottle" look than a lock to start at RM, or even a chance to bump someone down the depth chart. He would have to bump a Senior Roster member in order to make the squad.

Sigi's thoughts on how they are going to test the player during his week on trial.

We have a trialist coming in tomorrow, a player from the Ivory Coast who’s played in the Spanish first division. He’s a wide player and we’ll try to get him some minutes on the game, and obviously give him a look the rest of the week in training, with more minutes in either the game Wednesday or Thursday.

Notes: Fucito is expected to get about 20 minutes tomorrow. Ianni, Graham, Nyassi are not expected to play in tomorrow's 6AM game. There is likely to be a thread up for that match
