Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Just when it seemed darkest...

Tuesday's Sounders training session is shaping up to be quite an affair. Not only will Nate Jaqua make his long anticipated return to the field -- doing light training -- but can't-get-here-soon-enough striker Blaise N'Kufo will be on hand fresh off his Dutch League title winning campaign.

Both players will be a welcome sight as the Sounders have, hopefully, hit rock bottom after their loss to the Galaxy.

No promises, but I'm planning to be at training tomorrow and hope to have some good stuff to report back on.

N'Kufo, presumably, won't be suiting up but will be meeting with the press. This will be the first time he has met his future teammates in person.

The Swiss National Team player just finished up a seven-year stint with FC Twente, leading the club to its first Dutch Eredivisie title in its history. N'Kufo also leaves as the club's all-time leading goal scorer with 114 goals, 12 of which came this season.

N'Kufo won't be eligible to play until mid-July. Jaqua was originally put on injured reserve, which meant he had to miss the team's first six games. He's eligible to return as soon as the team and he believe he's fit enough to compete.

Definitely a deep breath

of fresh air after a tough few weeks. It’ll be nice to see Jaqua back out there in a couple of weeks. Good to hear N’Kufo’s here, if nothing else, to get a little acclimated and meet his new team. Hopefully a little boost for the guys, too.

It'll be interesting to see where he drops into the 4-3-3

If, that is, we’re still using that kind of formation when he returns.

Not sure who you're talking about NKufo or Jaqua but...

If they are using the 4-3-3 NKufo (or Jaqua most likely until then) would be the middle of the front 3. That’s the target forward position in the formation. He played in that position at FC Twente because they played a 4-3-3 too.
