Wow, too bad. Presumably folks are at the pubs.

I just tuned in, so I have no real input, but Germany clearly is in control based on the score.

I'm around

Doing university work while the game is on.

Man the matches in this first round have been poor. Only the officiating has really managed to impress, heh.

Finally some Oranje tomorrow.

And yeah, this match has been one-sighted. The organization is much better for the German team, and Australia has no answer for its offense. Germany is in a typical 4-2-3-1, but Klose and Ozil are switching position all the time, and the defense looks easily unhinged.

Will be even more fun in the Dutch 4-2-3-1, where all the front four can switch positions.

Australia was begging for that card for ages

Not just was Cahill’s tackle hard, their frustration is showing in a lot of bad fouls.

What a nightmare game for Australia.

I agree with the U.S. announcers. That card was strict.

Maybe it is just that I am used to MLS refs, but Cahill clearly brought his legs back in and was trying to avoid the foul.

Yeah, tis game is over.

It was strict, but this ref is a card-giving ref

And as I said, the entire team was begging for it.

MLS is as a rule much less strict on physical fouls than FIFA standards, especially Europeans. I was shocked at times to see the fouls you can get away with in that league.

Ooof, look at that tackle

Seriously Australia is begging for yet another red.

Astralia is not getting anywhere with this structure of attack

Germans are covering close, but the real problem is the Australians lack the quick passes needed at this level. They fail to make a lot of very obvious passes, hang on to the ball too long. They’re playing nervously, which is understandable, but they haven’t got a dream of a shot playing like this.

Nothing surprising there, tho’. Germany seems to already be giving it a rest.

*winces*

That was easy

This is kind of painful to watch.

Poor Pim Verbeek.

So I'm seeing even more pressure on the USA now

Because 2nd in Group C gets to get hammered by Germany.

Germany is one of the best teams in the Cup, but we knew that before we started

This wasn’t exactly the biggest challenge for them though. Australia was really weak.
