This is the MLS Whitecaps Logo as revealed today. What do you think of our northern neighbors symbol?

weak..crisp but boring. not sure why they traded in their waves logo for mountains. however, i was reading that they are going to put a retractable roof on BC place. that will be a fun place to watch the Sounders dominate.
Clean and crisp
For a league that started with the Wiz, Burn and Clash – I’ll take clean, dignified and boring any day.

Classy!
I think it looks great. It’s modern and minimalist, but still has a bit of a classic vibe to it. I like a logo that looks like it could be with the team for 100 years, and this looks like one of those to me.
The wave logo is so ’90s looking…

Umm, maybe because both communities are defined by their mountains?

Sounder At Heart
Caps fan here..a respectful hello! ;-)
I love it.
As a long time Caps fan, its fine with me.
The bottom blue symbolizing where the mountains meet the water is cool too.
BTW…sorry Sounder fans. I am looking forward to the great rivalry games, but it wont be that easy at the new BC Place.
This city has a long and successful history of winning. Giving Bob Lenarduzzi the ability to actually have a budget big enough to sign the players he can is almost not fair. The youth they already have will help too.
It won’t be easy points…well…maybe the first year while they find their way. But don’t be surprised by a quick rise up the ranks…echoing the Sounders path.
Or even surpassing it.
They are also things he plans to change.
"I'm not going to talk next year, I can already tell you that, on the morning of games," Luongo said. "Sometimes, I just think some of the questions are a bit absurd. It's just something you don't need on game day. You want to be focused on the game and stopping the puck." J.Botch' 05/14/10
Lines are clean, but it seems a little off
I think the type looks too busy and the “V’s” look elementary (maybe due to the crammed text)
I got no issues
I love those Helvetica-esque fonts and like the minimalism. Don’t know that I’m in love graphically, but I think too little is better than too much. I’m more curious to see what Portland does. I actually like their crest.
It does remind me a little of this, though:

Because if it's not Love | Then it's the bomb ... | That will bring us together
That looks like the Weyerhauser logo ( a NW timber company…which is appropriate, right? )
They are also things he plans to change.

It is...
The German National Team logo.
As for the Whitecaps logo, I really like it. Its clean, sharp and classic. I prefer that than some waves or something that seems “cheesy.” It could last them a long time, its nice.

Looks like a Mars lander to me
Triangular body with legs to the side. Notify Orson Welles or David Bowie.
Then the logo wouldn’t really represent Vancouver very well. There more to the city then its mountains
but it would look better... imo
it’s sounds like a lot of people like it and a lot of people hate it. to me (although I know what it’s suppose to represent) right now all it is are 3 diamonds layered with the bottom half a different color….. and by just having the top half it still represents whitecaps. As long as the whitecaps fans like it my opinion means nothing… but I think it could be a lot better than this.
Sorry but i disagree. If you go watch the brand launch video, they explain how the original Vancouver soccer team got to be known as the Whitecaps
That's cool
I did see a the video and like I said I see what they are going for… but to me this doesn’t pull that off well.
As long as the whitecaps fans like it that’s all that really matters.
I like it
Simple and clean. Has V (Vancouver) imposed on a W (Whitecaps) on the bottom.
Vancouver has a great (winning) soccer history, and this franchise can trace it’s roots back to the NASL team. Going to be a cool addition to the league.
Just out of curiosity… why do a lot of MLS teams have “FC”? It’s not a football club, it’s a soccer club. I get that it’s cool, euro-sounding, but we call it soccer. Sounders SC. Whitecaps SC. Toronto SC. I dunno, just kinda one of those things I guess.
Don’t get me started on “Real” Salt Lake…
As far as the logo, I like it. Simple yet classic.

It's a worldwide phenomena
they don’t call it soccer in Italy, but they still have FCs.

That said
I wouldn’t mind seeing SCs.

I like the FC designation myself.
Its a worldwide game with worldwide brands.
Using the FC term just puts our clubs into the rest of that world market.
Whitecaps FC is fine with me.
I get what you guys are saying about the SC thing though. I just think that you want other clubs around the world ( and their fans )…not giggling at the “soccer” name that they find funny already.
I'm with you.
It’s ‘soccer’ here. Why should we run from it? We make the sport our own, American. I bet in 10 years every MLS club loses the ‘FC’ including the Sounders.
I like the Vancouver logo, too.
Shouldn't it be "SF", then?
For Soccer Franchise?
Clean and classy. I like it.
Perhaps a little too simple, but that’s just the contrarian in me.
Karma police, arrest this man.
Maybe it's just the shape that's throwing me off
But I can’t get into it. It’s not a shield like every other team. The colors are fine, just the shape is bothering me.

Yawn! What was the question again?
Never mind. It really doesn’t matter to me.
It strikes me as a little too modern, a little too harsh, a little too much hard lines. I know you can’t “create” history with a logo, but so many of the MLS logos are either uninspired (Quakes, or, holy heck: Wizards) or way too “modern” with color choices and design elements: Rapids, Dynamo, Dallas, SSFC. That said, I like Philly a lot, because it strikes me as somehow more ‘in tune’ with classic English club logos. Something about it… same with TFC, although their harsh lines also put them a bit in the ‘too modern’ camp. I guess I’m a sucker for all the intricacies and timeless look of those in the English pyramid, but maybe in 30, 50, 100 years the Sounders logo will look authentic, vintage and historic as well?
The only way to look timeless without looking cheap
Is to be around for 100 years
