The downward trend of the SBNhanced Power Rankings
The SBNhanced MLS Power Rankings are a collaborative effort by SBN's soccer bloggers to rank the MLS teams each week.
Week 13 rankings. Updated 6/30/10.
And yes, that means that two voters think that the Sounders are more likely to get the #3 pick than they are to make the MLS Cup Playoffs. While a run is certainly still a possibility, those chances diminish every week. Even winning 50% of reminging games would put the Sounders in only the low 40s for points, and still possibly missing the second season.
The Sounders only have 3 points against teams that Sagarin rates in the top 8. Only the Union and United have been as bad against the better than average. Against the good (top 4) Seattle has two points, good enough for 8th. All of Seattle's wins have come against bad teams, and the schedule has been relatively easy so far. Yes, that means it gets harder for the second half when points are just needed, but demanded from every match.
Hooray for the Open Cup.

Hey at least
we’re in the third tier.
At this point with the season looking more and more lost, I hope we can get past LA and win the Open Cup again. At least that will do something to salvage an otherwise pretty disappointing season. Losing back to back against two of the worst teams is pretty depressing too. And barely scraping by a ho-hum USL team didn’t inspire confidence either.
Maybe we should start pretending
that this is our expansion season, and last year was our second year in the league. Competitive so soon! Such growth after a disappointing first season!
