After emotions are down a little bit let analyze Gonzales/ Trujillo incident in my last game. After review my tape red to Gonzales harsh.
Even though Gonzales was instigator he did not make a contact above shoulders like I was told by my crew member on the field.
Not having the best view of the incident acted on opinion of my crew members. Saying that I am taking full responsibility for this call.

Sure seems like MLS rescinding the one game suspensions would be fair
in light of this.
Not sure about rescinding punishment
but for increasing punishment, that has happened. It happened to Marshall actually, when he violently tackled Kenny Cooper and broke his leg. I’d think it could go both ways?

Suspension increased on San Jose's Hernandez

This was against KC on the 14th.

it happens
I’ve seen it in the Premier League, where the red is reduced to a yellow and suspension lifted
...that's MISTER Keller to you!!!

At the least, I'd like to see them drop the fine
Who else gets fined for something you didn’t even do in the middle of a hard day of work? That’s just insult to injury.
Just add this to the great book of retracted calls
I’m envisioning a 20 volume set where refs recall bad calls against Seattle teams and try to walk it back.
At least he's taking responsibilty
This should open the door for the MLS to retract his suspension. I’m glad he came out and acknowledged his mistake. This doesn’t happen very often.
I've been impressed with Prus in the past
I think he is one of the few “decent” refs in the league. Terry Vaughn is the one to hopefully avoid.

Yep
on both accounts. I think there’s been an absolute howler of a call in at least half of the matches I’ve seen Vaughn ref, Sounders or no n-Sounders. But I’ve also consistently remembered Prus as a good ref. He tends to let some physical play go and rarely gives cards, but is very consistent.
OTOH, Salazar was the ref that did the Union match to open the season, right?
I think we’d take most of the calls in that match. He tends to be card happy and maybe authoritarian and made a bad call on Leo, but I think he’s overall pretty decent.
Yeah, I'm not sure how Salazar could have seen something other than what we saw.
He’s right in the foreground of the best replay view. Though I guess he didn’t see it in slow motion. Still.
Isn't Prus
hanging his crew out to dry here? If he is, that makes him a bit of an a-hole. I mean, if you have to twitterate, just say “I blew it and I take responsibility.” Instead he’s portioning up blame to his crew members, which is lame. Seems like a better approach would be to handle it privately and ask the league to rescind the suspensions.
You will hear us.

Maybe he hates Salazar too?
I agree to a point, but we have no idea what recourse he has available to him when a colleague makes him look bad.
Disagree
If the mistake was the 4th officials then it is fair for him to point that out. Especially since Salazar had the best view of anyone on the field. Transparency in officiating is important, IMHO.
I think the problem is that he's not really committing
Sure, he says he may have been “harsh” but he stops short of calling it a mistake and totally puts the blame on the fourth official. If he really felt like a mistake was made, he should come out and say “Gonzalez should not have received a red and I will request that he not be suspended.”

Totally putting the blame on the 4th official would look a lot worse than this
and politically he cannot say what you suggest because if MLS then doesn’t rescind the suspension it looks bad on the refs and on MLS.
Prus takes responsibility but lays blame where it belongs. I have a hard time being upset for somebody for that.
If he's not doing this, what's the point?
I guess it makes us feel better, but if he’s not actually pushing for the card to be rescinded (and maybe he is) then it’s an empty gesture.

Yeah, but...
He says he takes full responsibility, but he is also trying to explain how a call like that happens. I find the explanation much more interesting than simply “it was my fault.”
Well I'm pacified.
Didn’t like the call, but he owned up to a mistake. What more can I ask for from a ref?
Would love to see the suspension rescinded by MLS though.
Now with more lemon bars!
MLS refs get far more stick than love
So I want to take the opportunity to say I think Prus is the best in the league. I like that he’s fair and willing to admit mistakes. I also like that he always brings a positive attitude to the field — when you look at him he’s always got this big smile on his face. He seems totally free of ego, nor does he seem to feel the need to “impose his authority.” Instead, he seems to really enjoy his work and the beautiful game itself. I think the players respect that.
