Nyassi to Sprint the Touchline in National Colors

Just as Steve Zakuani was to return to his starting role, and bump Sanna Nyassi back to a frequent sub, Nyassi's nation has called him for an upcoming qualifer for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sounders FC Midfielder Sanna Nyassi Called In by Gambia

RENTON, WASH. - The Seattle Sounders FC announced today that the Gambia National Team has called in midfielder Sanna Nyassi for Saturday's African Cup of Nations qualifier with Namibia in Banjul, Gambia.

Nyassi will miss Seattle's U.S. Open Cup semifinal versus Chivas USA and the MLS match on Saturday at New England. He will return to Seattle on September 6.

Nyassi has started the last six MLS matches and eight altogether this season. He has three assists in 17 appearances.

He's a pretty solid fixture as a starter at NE, right?

If he goes, that’s a big hole in their lineup.

I hope Fucito and Estrada are ready to get some time because I could easily see them both playing over the next couple of matches (BTW, isn’t Estrada officially allowed to play again and off the DL for the NE game or am I misremembering?) I’d imagine that Montano will see some time as well.

I'm not sure about Estrada

I think he’s on the IR and there isn’t a roster spot for him to move off the IR. I’m not positive about that though since Vagenas was moved to the IR so there might be a spot open.
