Another Round of Power Rankings - Now with Super Fun Stats!
Most of the discussion this week revolved around the differences between Tier Two and Tier Three (still) and what it means for the Sounders to be in the US Open Cup Final, does that mean that they are contending for a Cup? One voter said yes. And one voter is still hanging on to the Los Angeles Galaxy as a Cup contender.
And without commentary I will just offer you this link to some select stats for every player with an appearance in an MLS match this season. Peruse, and tell me what you learn. I'm dropping you into the Sounders sorted by Goal +/-. I had a fancy table I was going to put up looking at different ways to play the CM and RW, but with the injuries at this point there's no need for lineup juggling.
Power rankings after the break - your comments, in comments.

I have an idea
The subtitle of Sounder at Heart should be changed from “Sounder in Sport – Sounder in Life” to “Everything is Quantifiable, No Matter How Subjective.” ;)
Will somebody please pass the f**king asparagus?
In life I quantify flavor profiles of coffee

Is this actually your job?
If so, you are awesome.

Yep, I taste and hand roast coffee while maintaining a database of flavor

Ought to be the name of a techno DJ.
On that fantastic table....
I love that Fucito is championing the small-sample-size to appearing as our top player. If this were the Mariners, there would be endless calls from the Media to “give the kid a chance.” Granted, Fucito has talent, so I definitely want him to get more playing time, but no way would I put him in over our current starting front 3.
I am the endless call to give the kid a chance
but based on practice, reserve games and scrimmages
And I love small sample size theater
Look at Sturgis and Nyassi though…

But that
is based on reason – not small sample size.
The best part of this table was, for me, the confirmation it made of the contributions of Nkufo. I know intuitively that his presence opens up opportunities for our faster players (and the post about the high-line defense was really enlightening as to how), but to see that the numbers support it is really cool.
