Sounders Reserves v San Jose Earthquakes Live Blog
The MLS Reserve League is petering to a close. Tonight's match against the San Jose Earthquakes doesn't mean anything in any standings (Seattle has already won the MLS Western Reserve Division), but it does give Sigi Schmid an opportunity to see a few of his players on the deep bench. The Seattle Sounders have 6 available outfield players who have played in 4 or fewer MLS matches.
Tonight's opportunity for players like Sammy Ochoa, David Estrada, Michael Tetteh and Amadou Sanyang will help the decision making process for 2012 as well as give them chances to pop into the remaining MLS and CCL matches. For players that are regularly in the 18 but not often playing their opportunity is to show that the deserve minutes. Josh Ford and Bryan Meredith likely continue their eternal battle for supremacy. It would surprise no one if they each put in 45 minutes.
For San Jose Puget Sound locals Joey Gjersten and Ellis McLoughlin are in the lineups.

San Jose Earthquakes – Andrew Webber, Tim Ward, Taylor Mueller, Chris Leitch, Jacob Peterson, Ellis McLoughlin, Brad Ring, Jake Nicholson, Joey Gjertsen, Max Griffin, Matt Luzanaris.
Substitutes Not Used: David Bingham, Milton Blanco.
And yes, that's 6 Academy players on the bench.
Seattle Sounders FC – Josh Ford, Roger Levesque, Taylor Graham, Patrick Ianni, Zach Scott, David Estrada, Servando Carrasco, Michael Seamon, Michael Tetteh, Sammy Ochoa, Nate Jaqua.
Substitutes Not Used: Bryan Meredith, Ike Crook, Aaron Kovar, Ian Lange, Dominique Dismuke, Jim Oganga, Austin Sweeney.

Just rewatched the Red Bull - Toronto games from 10/1
Marquez gave the ball away to Toronto and then jogged behind the player all the way into the penalty box where he scored. Wonder what the difference in their pay checks is these days?

I remember that play from last night.
Both my wife and I said afterward we’d never seen Carrasco dig so fast for so far for so long. The guy is a mini-Honey Badger. What’s the word on his injury?

Bradley Wiggins eh?
Clearly the Vuelta didn’t take too much out of him.
A bit surprised at the low attendance, but we have had two big games in the week already. I had today off and wanted to come to this one but was usurped by other plans. Kind of glad given how bad the weather got.
Reserve game attendance has gotten lower game to game

I think the reserve league is the best deal in town.
Free admission with donation, and you getthisclose to the players. In the second half, when the first team came over to the bleacher to get out of the rain, Terry Boss and Mauro Rosales sat right behind my family and we got to chat with both of them. We only got to see three of the games this year, but I bet we don’t miss a one next year.

There were a ton of first teamers there
JKH, Fucito, Evans, Gonzales were definitely there and I believe I saw Friberg as well. Seeing Mauro sit right down in the crowd was an awesome thing to see.

Not quite the same as going out on a summer afternoon (also midweek, granted). I can see why attendance wasn’t as good.

In your opinion Dave,
Is Tetteh showing progress? Do you think he has the ability to be an above average (or better) MLS LW?
