SBN iPhone App Update
After getting feedback from people like you all over the network the tech team at SB Nation has updated the iPhone App. You can watch a demo video over at vimeo, but here's a breakdown of the improvements, many which readers here wanted. So if you are an iPhone guy go find the update, the entire staff at SBN is listening to you and will continue to improve this free product.
iOS 5 compatibility
For those of you who have updated to iOS 5, you might have noticed the current version of the app is a bit wonky. Version 1.1 will fix any of the bugs you're seeing in the app due to iOS 5.
Improved comments
The number one request when we launched the SB Nation app in August was to make the comments better. We heard you loud and clear. Now you can enjoy virtually the same comment experience through the SBN iPhone app that you do on SBNation.com sites. With version 1.1 comments load much faster, we added a refresh button to pull in new comments, tap on any comment to reply to it in-line and you can mark comments as read by tapping a "next unread comment" button. You can not Rec a comment from the app in this release, but it is on our to-do list for future updates.
FanPosts
Another top request was to to be able to read the FanPosts from your blogs. When you go to your blog from your Lineup you'll see a toggle for Blog posts and Fanposts. Tap Fanposts and you'll see the top recommended and recently posted FanPosts. This will add a ton more content to your blogs and give your users more opportunities to
participate in the discussion by reading and replying to comments on FanPosts. You can not add a new FanPost from the app... not yet at least.
Blog colors
To give blogs a sense of community and uniqueness, Version 1.1 adds a background color to the blogs name when accessed from your Lineup. A little bit of familiar color goes a long way in making users feel at home when viewing the site in the app. The blog color is whatever color we're using for its module headers on the site (the navigation, FanShots, FanPosts, Links, Most Commented, etc...)
In-app browser
Currently, when you tap on a link, we open up your iPhones' browser. A lot of you were inconvenienced by this experience so we made it high priority to fix. Now when you click on a link from an article in the app, we open up the URL in an in-app browser. You can browse the site for as long as you want. When you want to go back to where you were in the SB Nation app, just tap the "close" button and BOOM - you're back where you started.
And here's the news on Android directly from the tech team
ANDROID
Lastly, as if this update wasn't awesome enough, we have MORE news to share with you. Now, I am not positive, but I *THINK* some people had asked for an SB Nation Android app? All jokes aside, I'm happy to announce the SBN Android app is on schedule to be out by the holidays. It will have all of the features and content as the iPhone app, including the new and improved comments and FanPosts. As we get closer to the release date, we'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for your patience. I promise it'll be worth the wait.

Short feedback
So I set my lineup to Sounders SB Nation and Sounder at Heart, and my team to Sounders.
So once I loaded Sounders content that worked, but the Newsfeed seems to still be a general stream, full of college american football and nfl, not really what I wanted to follow. Any way to change Newsfeed to just Sounders and what I configured in the Lineup? Right now as the app is built, Newsfeed is useless to me, because it isnt respecting my preferences set in Lineup.
I'll make certain that higher ups hear about this
I’m wondering if having the app open directly to Lineup rather than newsfeed would be a solve?
If you can’t tell, I’m not on iOS
I am not a Supporter | I am not a Fan | I am a Sounder
Sounder At Heart
to be fair, the newsfeed shouldn't be displaying the 'popular' headlines, unless you select those options in your lineup.
I suppose the whole point of a Newsfeed versus a Lineup is
that Newsfeed be more generic. Makes sense, except… its too generic. Vomitting out mlb, college football (not even by region) and eff all else really isnt useful at all. Don’t think I’d be looking in there. Its like ESPN 10 yrs ago, with no perferences. Something needs to be less broadcasty there. Or put another way, the whole point of indie media is I follow who I like and have a relationship with (scary huh!) and the whole point of corporate media is they spoon feed me what they think I should know, as arbited by their taste makers sitting in offices in Bristol Connecticut, New York City and Los Angeles.
It certainly is a news feed. But it should still be configurable somehow: like say, “Soccer.”
Definitely a solution that I'll pass up the chain
rather than broadcast
the primary option can be narrow cast (soccer) with a micro focus (just the blogs I like) and macro (SBNation main feed) also available.
I am not a Supporter | I am not a Fan | I am a Sounder
Sounder At Heart
Well I still haven't bought a iPod Touch since the first one
So I guess I won’t be using the app unless they stopped requiring the 4.0 update.
I met a possum.
