Mauro Rosales 'Very Unlikely' To Play On Saturday
Mauro Rosales was healthy enough to run at practice on Thursday and was even able to do some stuff with the ball, but coach Sigi Schmid made it pretty clear that a best-case scenario would involve his midfielder making a substitution appearance on the return leg. Schmid said it was "very unlikely" that Rosales would play on Saturday against Real Salt Lake.

I'm still really angry over this
the thug-ball aspect of MLS, mediocre guys taking out stars on purpose and there being no or next to no recourse or consequences. As a STH this isn’t what I pay to see.
Zemanski wasn't making a malicious tackle
And if that was all it took to re-injure Mauro then it would have happened at another point during the game, or probably worse against RSL.

there's just no way i'm going to believe zemanski did that on purpose
He’s good friends with Steve Zakuani. Just think about it.

Last weekend I watched Villa play West Brom in the Premier League.
Alan Hutton made one of the most disgustingly awful challenges on Shane Long that you’ll ever see; it was almost as bad as Mullan’s tackle on Zakuani and Long was lucky he was pivoting, because he pretty easily could have had his leg broken. As it is, he’s out for a few months and won’t be able to play for Ireland in Euro qualifying. Hutton was not even whistled for a foul, and an equal number of people in the media have defended the tackle, which was completely indefensible if you are a sane person.
Zemanski kind of awkwardly stuck a leg out late. It’s the kind of challenge that happens 5-6 times in every single game. If anyone was playing “thug ball” in that game it was Seattle; Levesque and Evans both made really nasty tackles that could have easily injured someone. MLS needs to do all they can to crack down on dirty play, but you can’t suspend a guy every time he makes a slightly clumsy tackle.

BTW
Meyers retweeted a Zemanski tweet from earlier this week that said Zemanski hoped all the best for Rosales and looked forward to seeing such a talented player on the pitch again. No question it was an accident. Soccer is a contact sport. Stuff like this happens.
These are the same arguments they made for Shawcross's assault on Aaron Ramsey
“he didnt mean to.” “he’s a great kid” “he is not that kind of player”
bullsh*t bullsh*t bullsh*t. If I want to see clumsy oafs plodding into people I’ll watch throwball. And yes, this happens in the EPL far too often too, too many idiots that think the game is better if players get stuck in, aye, how we did in the good ol days when men were men… And then England never wins at World, could the two be related?
The MLS can choose to create whatever product it wants. Seattle emphasizes the speed and technical game. Other clubs emphasize clumsy tackling. I don’t give a rats a** if it was intentional or not. Or if it was our less talented players either. I’m not white knighting Levesque any more than you guys are white knighting Zemanski.
Get the clumsy oafs out of MLS or forever be a secondary league without true top flight talent. Follow Seattle’s lead and evolve, or keep being like Colorado, New England, and all the other oafish teams.
I think you've missed my point.
Challenges like Zemanski’s happen multiple times in every game in every league in the world. It was not particularly bad and if Rosales doesn’t get injured I doubt he even gets carded for it. No one is “white-knighting” him and bombastic strawman declarations of that nature don’t make you look any better.
You are never going to get rid of challenges like the one Zemanski made against Rosales, and by bashing MLS for “allowing these things to happen” you’re ignoring the fact that they’ve actually been quite proactive in handing out heavy suspensions for truly dangerous play this season. Zemanski is not a “clumsy oaf,” he’s actually a pretty decent and skillful player that happened to make a poor but far from malicious tackle. Acting like it’s worse than it really was quite frankly smacks of entitlement.

You're lawyering for the cause of soccer as you see it being played.
And I’m suggesting we have other options. I saw a clumsy tackle on a player that didnt have to happen. Thats not entitlement, thats getting the level of play up to where it (I believe) should be. As for straw men, were you following the aftermath of Shawcross, or of Zakuani ? Its always the same things, they are great guys, they would never deliberately injure someone, you have it all wrong, its just good fundamental soccer that got physical. Same stuff being said after the Rosales tackle this week, same stuff they said after Woolard hit him to begin with. Look at the photo of Woolard’s tackle, it looks like he’s deliberately trying to hurt Rosales. No other reason for a tackle like that from behind. And I’m saying, to that, that we have options on what “good” soccer is considered, and we too often choose the outdated (I say its outdated) style of play called English style, which incidentally most of the world has stopped playing as well.
The fact that I had the complete oppositon reaction to both the Shawcross and Mullan tackles than the one you've decribed
is quite frankly pretty damning to the argument you are making.

OK, we'll have to leave it there.
Shawcross was an assault, Mullan was a retribution. Most intelligent people I follow saw it in similar light. Are you sure you don’t root for Portland? Just kidding. But your view and mine are 180, definitely.
What are you even talking about?
I called for Mullan to be suspended for the season and I think Shawcross is an absolute thug who has single-handedly made me detest Stoke City.

Sorry, this comes off as way too harsh.
I see now that it was a misunderstanding on my part.
To clarify, my reaction to Shawcross/Mullan was the opposite of those that defended the players in question afterwards.
