CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Schedule Announced
2012's first competitive match will be on 7 March at 7 PM Pacific as the Seattle Sounders face Santos Laguna at home. Their next match in the CONCACAF Champions League will be a week later down in Torreon, Mexico at 5 PM Pacific on the 14th. The 7th will in fact be MLS night in the CCL as the early match will be the Los Angeles Galaxy at Toronto FC.
As Major League Soccer will feature at least one team on a bye every league weekend it is unknown whether all three will be off or playing on the opening Saturday of 2012. Commissioner Garber said in his "State of the League" address that the schedule should be out in December, or early January at the latest.

How does the semifinal pairing work?
I’m just curious if we’d get the winner of LA-Toronto or do we play a Mexican team if we beat Santos?

Winner of LA/TFC with Seattle having leg 2

It's too bad one MLS team will have to go home
Although on the flip side, one MLS team is guaranteed to make it to the semis. And if Sounders advance, an MLS team is guaranteed to make it to the final.
I have heard
But not confirmed that Seattle will be playing in the opening weekend of MLS. So figure on scheduled congestion right away!
With luck, we would open in Houston, where there are connections to Torreon… but Houston is opening their stadium next year, so odds are they’ll do a KC-like situation and play a lot of road games at the start of the season.
One thing for sure- First Kick for the whole league won’t be here.

It would be nice if the league would cut us a bit of slack
There has to be a bye in each round anyway, so why not have it be us that first week?
Why should Seattle get slack and not LA and TFC?

Sure, why not them as well
Give all of the CONCACAF teams byes, and figure out how to shoehorn the matches in elsewhere. Why not reward achievement instead of punishing it?
MLS did that for RSL
and I get why. But not having 3 of the 5 most popular teams on tv for opening weekend would set back efforts to improve ratings, especially when one match that weekend will be on NBC

Houston announced that their first home game will be May 12th
I’ve heard that the traditional Thursday opener may not happen.
