Jay DeMerit will be in attendance for Thursday's showing of "Rise & Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story" at Seattle's AMC Pacific Place 11 and participate in a post-show question-and-answer session with viewers. The show starts at 7 p.m. and, as of lunchtime, more than two-thirds of the tickets for the 200-seat theater were still available.

The movie documents DeMerit's rise from the English pub leagues all the way to the English Premier League and a spot on the United States World Cup team. Sounder at Heart co-hosted a screening of the movie several months ago, but significant soccer-playing footage has been added since then. The movie was looking for funding at that time and is now in nationwide release.

This will be the only Washington showing of the movie, with one showing also being planned for a as yet to be determined date in Portland.
