Nos Audietis Episode 34: Addition By Subtraction

After a couple of weeks off, we're back at it! We want to thank you for your patience and as we navigate the holiday season we will most likely be on a bi-weekly schedule until closer to preseason.
This week we talk about the loss of players James Riley and Tyson Wahl. As you probably know, Riley was selected by Montreal Impact in the expansion draft and immediately traded to Chivas USA and Wahl was traded to the Impact for allocation dollars. We discuss the Sounders options at the outside back positions including potential new signings and rumors.
We also talk about the loss of Arlo White to NBC, and what kind of announcer and format we would like to see in the booth next season.
Clips from Jeremiah and Dave's end of season interview with Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer are also included this week.

dropped in first 10 minutes. You may want to listen.

Yeah
I was shocked when Jeremiah said we signed Iker Casillas as our new keeper. And then when Aaron mentioned Gareth Bale is our new LB, I just about pooped myself.

The anticipation is killing me
I’m in class until 15:30
FRIMPONG ought always be written in full caps #DEEEEEEENCH
That's just so weird to me.
Frankly, I would have rather had what Montreal got for Riley than keeping Fucito.
Seattle might not have had the Allocation to send
that Montreal does

We already have 2 target guys, though
I really wonder if the FO is seeing Fucito as not only a good player for now, but also filling in the puzzle for when Fredy nearly inevitably moves on to Europe in the fairly near future.
Assuming that is true, it’s very interesting. It also leads me to believe that I know who our 12th protected player would have been.
Boo! Tomorrow AM. I want all things now!
There are multiple sources
I’m 100% certain that it’s true, but we don’t know the precise details.

If that's the bombshell
seems like we kinda got jacked on this. Maybe we should learn from Portland’s tactics: convince them to take a crappy player in exchange for not taking anybody else.
It also offers insight into the way the Sounders valued certain players

True
I was surprised when I heard them talking about that, especially with all the questioning of motives throughout the season. (trying to not give anything away here)

I’d be curious if it was just a bluff anyway. I mean they clearly had the Riley for Braun deal worked out. I suspect Jesse Marsch wanted him more than anyone on our team. Regardless, I’m fine with how it turned out.

My thinking...
Is that this trade happened once Impact knew what they could get for Riley.

I think it shows how much we valued our Fullbacks
They’ve always had a plan to upgrade them and had no problem letting them go.

That's easier for Portland to do
Even had they not made that deal, were any of their players really in jeopardy of being taken?
I like how many have commented

You and me, we are no longer friends because of this comment.
However, you could let me know what they said(revealed) and we would totally be cool.
Anyone have a picture of Cosmo?
I thought Beckham was LA’s mascot.

Really?
Bale, Casillas? I will be led to belive you people are on crack if you say those guys are coming to Seattle
nothing nearly that juicy
just expansion draft day details. It’s going to be a huge letdown when you actually figure it out.
