Sounders Authentic Home Jersey Pictures

Pictures of the Authentic home jersey now available!

Star-divide

Like the authentic away jersey it has the top of the Space Needle on the back of the neck.

It also has that subtle crisscrossing line thing going on across the front (which I notice goes under the crest and sponsor but goes over the TechFit straps.)

Obviously the (hideous) silver TechFit straps are quite visible on both the front and back.

I will also point out that the collar is blue all the way around (unlike the early replica which has a green collar except in the middle.)

The main thing we haven't seen is how the silver X is going to look with the name and number over it.  We also don't know what color the name and number will be.  Last year's kits had white stripes and white names and numbers.  This kit has blue stripes on the home jersey and green on the aways.

We also don't know what the shorts are for these.  Will they match the jersey and be green with blue stripes?  They can't exactly be blue with blue stripes.

Last year we had white stripes on both the blues and greens.  That allowed us to mix and match jersey with short.  This year, having blue stripes on the home ersey and green on the shale makes the shorts basically non-interchangeable.  So it's probably either all shale or all green.

I was hoping the long delay in seeing the home jersey meant changes were forthcoming.  Looks like I was wrong.  These appear to be the home kit.

Huh.

That’s a decided downgrade from the old Rave Green kit. The silver straps look worse on that than they do on the Slate shirt…

No Doubt

At least silver is sort of a shade of shale. It has nothing to do with green. Especially rave green. Silver and green looks fine on the Eagles. But with rave green it just washes out the jersey.

I really hope that these don't sell really well

Show the Sounders and adidas they can’t just slop together any poorly designed kit and people will buy it… unfortunately I’m sure they will still sell pretty well.

I agree

but the sales of the Electric Sierra Mist kits tells me not to get my hopes up.

I think those sold because of their ridiculousness.

These new ones aren’t ridiculous, they just look bad.

Don't hate the player

Hate looking like looking like a member of a pothole repair crew.

I hate the all-one-color look

I thought last year’s green shirt with blue shorts combo was very nice to look at. Really hoping that there will be a contrast between the jersey and the shorts this year too.

And in general, I think this is a definite downgrade from last year’s kit.

24 is clearly the most perfect of numbers.

In scrimmages this year they have had two looks

Green-Green-Green
Green-Shale-Green

Yes

But the green practice jersey (which looks far far better than this thing) has shale shoulders. This has no shale whatsoever and would look awful with shale and green shorts. It would look like pieces of two completely different uniforms. One black and green. One green and blue.

Generally, the stripes on the tops and bottoms should match. They were all white last year. Also generally, the stripes are the same color as the name and number. So we are probably looking at blue name and number on top of a light green jersey with a silver X on the back. It’s going to be tough to read. Not as tough as the Electricity Kit, but tough.

I don’t know who edits our Wikipedia page but they seem to think we have two looks, Green-Green-Green and Shale-Shale-Green.

Wow, the silver looks baaaad with the blue.

Without the silver, it’d be a pretty good jersey, though the blue armpits are wonky.

Exactly

Take the silver straps off and it’s a great look

24 is clearly the most perfect of numbers.

Save the straps, I like these better than the inaugural shirt.

But I hate the straps so much, there’s zero chance I buy one. Vote with my wallet time.

XBOX is in white, so I’ll go out on a limb and say numbers and names will be too.

From the back they look like the attachment point for those leashes people put on their kids. #SoundersStrapsLookLike…

why, why, why

here is the AC Milan techfit jersey:
http://shop.bigsoccer.com/96283-sb.html

notice something? yeah, the techfit doesn’t mess with the look of an internationally recognized shirt which is an important part of a global brand…

What adidas/Sounders did was take a “look” that they hope to eventually make a part of a globally recognized brand and muck it up with what stands as little more than a “hey, look at these straps” advertisement for adidas. I hope we get two shirt sponsorship income sources: X-Box and adidas…

Or closer to home, DC United's new red kit.

Unfortunately we’re probably just going have to suffer through like we did in the mid-90s with the ghastly teal Mariners jerseys and hats.

I have to say

The tech fit bra straps still ruin that kit to. Although, not to the same degrees as the Sounders one…
Even if the Sounders bra straps were that shiny clear crap instead of silver I wouldn’t be any/much better (and I still wouldn’t buy one).

by majora999 on Feb 14, 2011 2:27 PM PST up reply actions

Ah, but at least

their non TechFit replicas (the one’s most fans buy) don’t have fake TechFit straps.

When you buy our replica jersey, or even the official authentic non-TechFit jersey (ClimaCool) (which a lot of players will opt for) you get to sport fake silver compression straps.

However, I don’t think I’ll be able to try one on to see how it looks out here in South dakota… =/

I'm glad that I got a set of the old Replica Jersies on clearance

I won’t be buying the new style of the green. Possibly the shale at some point in the future.

What a failure

Of course I’ve just come to expect this from Adidas. I follow college basketball and football closely and they mess up everything they touch in those sports, too.

The good news? We don’t have to spend money on a replica/authentic jersey until they fix those ridiculous stripes.
