Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

EPL Talk is citing unnamed sources putting Manchester United in Seattle on July 20 or 21.

Is a mid-week match vs. Wayne Rooney and Co. worth the "premium pricing"?

That depends entirely on your perspective.

I’d imagine that it is worth it to enough people for the club to justify the decision, but I’m not upset that I opted out.

Man U????

Not sure I have heard of them. Are the any good? ;)

Frankly, I am meh about any friendlies. But, considering Man U is likely one of the top two teams in the world, if the Sounders are going to have a friendly, YES they are a great choice.

plus you can sell your tickets :)

I’ll probably sell my tickets for this and get back a third of what I paid for the whole season ticket package.

I have a friend that buys Seahawks season tickets and does the same thing for playoff tickets

He goes all season long and sells the playoff tickets and it almost always pays for most of the regular season. It was great for him when they were winning the division every year.

Frankly I see us taking this college team down

I mean what kind of players does Manchester University have anyway?
I crack myself up….

I won't

be going to the game. Me and dad agreed just the Portland and Vancouver.

Friendly in Vancouver

Right now the Whitecaps are working on two possible big European teams for a friendly mid-summer. I would love it if a team the calibre of ManU came to Vancouver. I’m jealous.

Truth be told

There probably aren’t a lot of friendly opponents that would have been greeted with mass excitement here. This is, after all, the home of #trophiesnotfriendlies and we at least have to act like we’re above them :).

I too would be pumped for a Bayern match.

Or like a Mesut Ozil and friends match. Other then that I don’t have much interest.

by DarthGreedo on Mar 1, 2011 12:15 PM PST up reply actions

Man, Ozil is the shit. Although he still needs to grow into things. He was so much fun to watch during the World Cup.

by Perrinbar on Mar 1, 2011 12:21 PM PST up reply actions

My favorite player to watch since the world cup

He could show up to Qwest, just him and 10 guys from his local CoRec team and i’d still enjoy it i think.

by DarthGreedo on Mar 1, 2011 12:24 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah. I'd go.

He single-handedly made it so that I don’t entirely hate Real Madrid. Still love Barca more.

by Perrinbar on Mar 1, 2011 12:33 PM PST up reply actions

Maybe I shoudl rephrase

I don’t think there is one opponent who would have been welcomed with universal glee…

I'm pretty sure

the only team that would be universally welcomed to Qwest would be the USMNT. They wouldn’t be an “opponent” but thats the only friendly I see sounders fans being 100% in favor of

by swingman24 on Mar 1, 2011 1:58 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, I totally agree, I was mostly piling on some Ozil love.

Boo! Tomorrow AM. I want all things now!

by Perrinbar on Mar 1, 2011 4:17 PM PST up reply actions

I will admit it

I’m excited by this. Man U is a team I love to hate. I won’t be at the game, but I’ll watch it on TV.

It's an interesting match, at least.

I’d rather see Liverpool come here, but I’m a little biased on that matter.

But this way

You won’t have any conflict. You can root full on for the Sounders just to spite the pretty boys from Man U.

by Orothar on Mar 1, 2011 1:19 PM PST up reply actions

It is nice to know that most do not like Man U either.

By the way, they lost to Chelsea 2-1 in the EPL today. Arsenal must be the happiest team right now.

haters gotta hate :)

love or hate United, a warm summer evening at Qwest watching the Sounders take one of the more historic clubs in soccer…. what’s not to enjoy? Whether it’s United, Barca, Liverpool, etc… we’re pretty damn lucky to have the option to decline such matches. My fingers are crossed that it happens.

Eh, it's a friendly, I wouldn't feel any conflict.

I’d just be glad to see two of my favorite teams and hope for as entertaining a match as possible.

Friendlies involving the Sounders suck

but at least this one I will actually be able to sell my ticket for.

by B-Lot tailgater on Mar 1, 2011 2:10 PM PST reply actions   1 recs

Ironically...

I like Man Utd, and I pretty much guessed that this would be the friendly… and I STILL opted out of the tickets for my season package. It was mostly economics for me (way too expensive) but I guess the #trophiesnotfriendlies attitude was in the background. After all, I’d pay a lot to see MUFC in a competition – but not the boringness of exhibition play (even the Barca game wasn’t that great in my opinion – just kind of bloodless without something to play for!)
