Decently long Cascadia soccer article
While it's a bit TOO Portland centric for my blood (as Alaska Airlines is sponsoring their kits), the Alaska Airlines magazine has a longish article on MLS, Timbers, Sounders, and Whitecaps in their current in-flight issue, that you can read here (note--not HTML, some odd reader they use):

Does this mean we can't fly with Alaska Airlines anymore, due to the kit sponsorship and Sounder pride? Shame, I really liked them.
FanPosts only represent the opinions of the poster, not of Sounder at Heart.

Definately timber influenced in the writing
As they couldn’t get Sigi’s trophies correct
he has 8 majors, not 6.

Blood's thicker than soccer
My sister’s husband is an Alaska pilot, so I have to keep the family employed, despite my disapproval of their marketing decisions.
You will hear us on Brougham, you will hear us on Occidental, you will hear us on King. We are all around you, there is no escape.
Well, the sponsor the Huskies too
so for some people that’s a good and a bad
or for people like Brian and others that’s two bad marketing decisions

Yeah, that's a pretty slanted article.
I like that they say that Seattle fans are less Authenticâ„¢ because they have a marching band, and then try to contrast it to Portland who sing and chant, as if Seattle doesn’t do that too. And then they say that Seattle “considered” having cheerleaders which is artificial stimulant, and then say Portland is more Authenticâ„¢ because they have a team mascot (who’s from Oregon!) who uses his chainsaw “to pique the passions”.
It’s pretty funny, in the proccess of trying to talk up the Portland fanbase, they just make them sound like a bunch of douchebag snobs. I’m sure they can’t be that bad as a whole.

I don’t know, I think it was pretty balanced and fairly well-written for an airline magazine. The last couple of pages in particular heaped praise on Seattle (mostly well deserved, too). Thanks for posting the article joesz!
The only thing with Timber Jim – the Timbers didn’t hire him. He sat in 107 and asked if he could bring a chain saw to the games back in the 70’s. He kept asking, so the FO eventually allowed it. Pretty organic. Thank god your FO was smart enough to for-go the cheerleader idea; nothing more embarrassing as a supporter when your team hires other people to lead cheers. Cheers!
I don't think the org ever considered cheerleaders
as this is the first I have heard about it
of course, I could have blocked that from my memory.

To be frank the cheerleaders for many of us d00ds won't be there for "cheers".
Just being honest in speaking on behalf of much of my half of the species.
The fact that they have to constantly justify their authenticity
shows you just how “authentic” they really are.
