Open Flavor Fridays - 15 days off edition
Once again talking beer, wine, food and maybe other beverages.
Let's get a few things out of the way. If you are not of legal consumption age in your place of residence do not drink alcohol. Do not drink in excess, unless you are around people you know in a private place. NEVER, EVER drive drunk.

So its been a while, and I could make excuses for slacking, but I won't. Here are some great food and beverage experiences I've had over the past two weeks.
First though: wouldn't it be a cool job to visit sports bars, pubs, tailgates and talk about it? Yeah, it would, and SBNation just launched a blog cataloguing just those type of places/events. Sports Bar Nation just launched and yes, they will be at a Sounder at Heart meet-up this summer.
Chimay Red on tap - The wife and I went out on a date (which feels odd when you've been together as long as we have) to Red House in Renton. She had a pinot noir, her default, while I just had to go with Chimay on tap. It tasted just like you'd expect, but the fact that it wasn't out of bottle, and in a place in Renton no less, just pleased me so much. Red House has an amazing selection of bottles of beer and wine, the broadest in South King County by far. Go there.
Rogue Captain Sig Northwestern Ale - This is a clean, easy drinking typical northwestern style pale ale. You can taste a touch more malty than most, but that was the largest difference. From a marketing standpoint I love that Rogue through their Issaquah Brewhouse have connected with a local famous guy to help a charity that is dear to his heart with a beer that is genuine to who he seems to be on TV.
Homemade Fish Tacos - seriously a great easy meal. I pan fry tilapia with a little bit of Chuhula Chili and Lime sauce, throw in some extra lime and a little salsa verde. To accompany I made fresh homemade no-onion guacamole and a mayo based white sauce (which I know is cheating, but it is easy). Overall this dish takes all of 15 minutes from readily available items and nearly reminds me being in Mexico, mainly because the way the weather has been I have needed to be in Mexico.
In totally other news, we're working on getting a regular pre-game location with once-a-month viewing event that would also have a larger push for the May 14th game (my birthday and v Portland). We'll keep you up-to-date on things.
We will also need a larger venue with video screen playback, food and beverage service and at least two microphones for a major not-quite-Sounders related event for a late April to early June time frame. Suggestions for this are very welcome.

Flavors have been severely limited of late...
… my grandfather has been in the hospital, and spending eight hours a day there rather limits how much time and energy I have for cooking something good.
To relate to our Flavor Friday from a few weeks ago, though, I did have some tasty gyros a few days ago.
As for a suggestion, Beverdige Place in West Seattle might work. Several screens, lots of space, and fanTASTIC taps and wine selection. No food service direct from them, but every eatery in the area delivers there (there’s at least ten places within a five minute walk), and they have menu books for all the various options on hand.
