Seattle Sounders Vs. Colorado Rapids, Preseason GameThread: This One Doesn't Count Either
First Kick is just a few days away. That game will feature the defending Supporters' Shield winners, the LA Galaxy, and will be showed live on ESPN. It should be an exciting game, packed with pomp, circumstance and actual meaning.
In the meantime, we'll have to settle for one more preseason game as the Seattle Sounders take on the Colorado Rapids in what is being billed as the second annual Community Shield. With this game being between last year's MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup winners, it would be understandable if you assumed this was the start of a new tradition similar to the one in England where the FA Cup and Premier League winners meet in the preseason. There's no indication of that being the case, though, as the first Community Shield was between the Sounders and Portland Timbers in 2010.
More importantly, this is the final chance for players to make an impression on coaches before the season starts. Most of the Sounders' roster spots appear to be spoken for, but there's always a chance that something interesting happens when they play under the lights at Qwest.
If you're not attending the game, you'll have to be satisfied with watching "intermittent action" as KONG broadcasts its season preview show during the game. There is no live stream, at least not from Seattle. The broadcast starts at 6:30 p.m. with a 2010 review.
Starting lineups (courtesy of @JoshuaMayers):
Sounders FC lineup: GK Keller, D Riley, D Hurtado, D Parke, D Gonzalez, M Fernandez, M Alonso, M Evans, M Zakuani, F Montero, F Nkufo.
Colorado Rapids lineup: GK Pickens, D Kimura, D Moor, D Wynne, D Wallace, M Mastroeni, M Larentowicz, M Smith, M Mullan, F Cummings, F Casey
Anyway, this is your gamethread. Enjoy.

dont know what you guys have seen so far
I know the tv coverage is less than optimal. Im at the stadium. Couple thoughts.
1) Our off ball movement up front is a problem. All 4 when they get up front seem to be stagnate and waiting for long crosses or magic balls over the top. Hopefully that’ll change next half
2) Evans has shown moments of brilliance, but his touches are heavy and he seems reluctant to get forward in attack.
3) Our defense is looking REALLY solid tonight. The back line looks as disciplined as I’ve ever seen out of this team. Nice to have Hurtado back, but I think Leo and James have gotten stronger in the offseason.

Depends
Tore a hip-flexor once. Doctor’s told me 3-8 weeks recovery time. I was back at it after about 6… but well out of game shape. The phrase “no kicking or sprinting actions” came up numerous times. The silver lining is that strains/tears in the muscle group usually heal very well.

In an upset
KONG shows all 2 minutes of stoppage time w/o a commercial.
You will hear us on Brougham, you will hear us on Occidental, you will hear us on King. We are all around you, there is no escape.
Finally done with preseason
now to games that matter
I am not a Supporter | I am not a Fan | I am a Sounder

From this preseason,
My conclusion is the Sounders need tech fit stripes around their hips.
I actually think Adidas has some kind of tight-fitting tech fit shorts...
…with the bands and everything that you can wear under your normal shorts.
Or just make a jock out of duct tape!
You will hear us on Brougham, you will hear us on Occidental, you will hear us on King. We are all around you, there is no escape.
Yep
i was hoping seattle wouldn’t have any injuries during the pre-season but oh well.
Hopefully none are serious enough to send someone to the IR
We’re deep enough this year to have anyone of those guys out for a game or two to start the season. What we really can’t have is multiple people on the IR for long stretches like last year.
Hopefully
Seattle signs montano(extend the laon) and Rosales quickly
All of the complaining about commercials is lame
When a portion of the ticket sales are going to charity, the Sounders are doing right by the charity to not broadcast the full game for free on television. It’s just glorified practice anyway. Fine by me.

We spent WAY more time complaining about the jerseys
You will hear us on Brougham, you will hear us on Occidental, you will hear us on King. We are all around you, there is no escape.
I hadn't thought about it that way
though I do feel like this was more than a glorified practice. Seemed more like a dress rehearsal for the season opener.
Evans out one to three weeks with a hamstring injury
