Nos Audietis: The Sounder At Heart Podcast, Steve Zakuani Reaction Edition (Featuring Arlo White And Kevin McCauley)
Steve Zakuani's injury is quite possibly one of the single biggest events in Seattle Sounders history. Instead of trying to address a story of such magnitude as part of a regular podcast, we thought a special edition dedicated entirely to the Zakuani situation was in order. Jeremiah and I are joined by Dave Clark and Kevin McCauley. Dave you all know of course and Kevin you should know, but just in case you do not he is one of the editors of SB Nation Soccer, the manager of SB Nation's Tottenham Hotspur blog Cartilage Free Captain, SB Nation's Mexican soccer blog FMF State Of Mind, the editor of superb MLS site the Allocation Order, and is in general one of the hardest working gents in the soccer blogging biz.
We discuss the injury itself and why Steve Zakuani might be one of the most well-equipped players in the league to deal with it, what would constitute a fair suspension for the Colorado Rapids Brian Mullan and Jeremiah has an interview with Arlo White.
We'll return to our normal podcasts later in the week. Hope you enjoy it.

Pay With Suspension
Via Josh Mayers Twitter
SSFC’s Chris Henderson told me MLS suspensions are with pay. Assumed it but didn’t know for sure. The fine is the only monetary punishment.
That seems fair to me
A long suspension would be devastating in a league where many guys only make $40,000. The fine can be tailored a bit to the salary level of the player.
That's a very good point

I will be upset if the league goes with precident
If it is anything less than 5 games it would be unjust in my opinion. I think based on where he started the tackle and his actions towards the no call seconds before show a clear intent to not play the ball but the man. It is probably more dangerous than Clark’s attack on Ruiz or Sala’s fisticuffs which both got extended bans. His quote after the game shows no remorse for the action only the result. Garber said at the beginning of the season that they were going to protect the players and anything less than 5 games would undermine that. I think 10 games and 30k in fines should send notice to the league that retaliatory tackles have no place in MLS.
