Seattle Sounders Vs. Portland Timbers, Reserves: Gamethread
I'm a bit late to the proceedings, but I'm here now. We're 0-0 in the 24th minute. The Sounders have Michael Tetteh playing left mid, Pat Noonan at the target forward spot, Taylor Graham and Jeff Parke at center back, and the rest of the normal characters.
I'll probably only update for big moments and probably some random observations.

Wish I was there.
Ended up not being able to make it to the game at Starfire.. was hoping the Soundersfc.com blog would update, but it seems like they might be too busy to do updates on the live blog. :(
Hopefully this will help. :)

Noonan is a big

Looks like MontaƱo might start the 2nd half
He’s warming up on the field w/ the assistant trainer while the team is in the locker room.

He’s coming in at the 63’ for… Noonan!

I am hearing
that are are having more chances for goal compared to Portland, is this true? For those there, how is the crowd and away support looking?
by TheDarkPassenger on May 15, 2011 1:38 PM PDT reply actions
Yeah
Portland not really doing much. Sean Morris, SU alum and supplemental pick of the Sounders, is playing at RB for the Timbers.

I don't think there's more than 3-4 people in Portscum garb
by MicahRowe18 on May 15, 2011 1:45 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
There are about a dozen or so
young guys in the stands wearing Timber warm-ups. Are they academy players?
Otherwise I see no jerseys and 3 scarves.

Tetteh clearly read Dave's analysis on his play
in the last reserve game, because he’s gotten in on a couple good slide tackles and got stuck in for another couple of good challenges.

Lamar Neagle scores
I’d almost call it accidental. He slid what looked like a cross in from outside the penalty area and every defender and Sounder in the area missed it, including goalkeeper Adin Brown. 1-0 sounders in first-half stoppage time.

Goal!
Looks like Sounders FC just went 1-0 with a shot from Lamar Negal! Hope we maintain the score and put it in the bag.

dave added the lineup to the main post
and it says alonso is playing next to estrada
Ha! Yeah looks like we've got a starting 12
W/ Ozzy playing right center mid between Estrada, Seamon, and Neagle.

Not sure about Alonso..
He is there and was interviewed but he is not playing according to Soundersfc..

Man ... it's pretty sloppy
I don’t know that anyone has looked all that great. Neagle has been good. Noonan had some good moments.

Estrada has looked pretty good again
at that attacking center mid position.
Other than a few poor short passes I think Tetteh has looked good.
Fucito’s speed continues to amaze me.

Am I right in saying
that academy kids have yet to make the 18 in these reserve games?
yes because of the high school season
by Sandra_R on May 15, 2011 2:20 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
You are right
There happens to be a conflict with the High School soccer season that would effect eligibility (according to Sigi), though there are a few who aren’t playing who could be options.
I think the bigger issue is that right now this is the only games that several Sounders can get, and so they only way they can be ready to contribute is by actually playing.

neagle with nice assist to Noonan
Neagle sends in ball from about 25 yards out on teh left wing to Noonan who heads it past Brown. 2-0 Sounders.

I assume the ECS is there, how is the turn out for the Timbers Army? Any good noise level coming from both SG’s?

I think part of the away support arrangement last night...
…was that TA had to get bussed back to Portland immediately after the game. It might not be that appealing to make the trip twice in one weekend for the sake of a reserve game.
I’ve only observed about 8 regular Timbers fans who do not appear to be affiliated with the timbers organization.
by Kiliman2004 on May 15, 2011 2:39 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
Thats a little surprising
I would of thought the Timber’s Army would of showed up.
by TheDarkPassenger on May 15, 2011 2:30 PM PDT reply actions
poor little fellers
must be all tuckered out from trying to out yell 36,000 sounders fans and had to go home early.
And to be fair...
There’s not exactly a huge contingent of ECS either

timbers cut lead to 2-1
David Horst gathers rebound while laying on his back and pokes it past Terry Boss. Boss had made a nice save on the initial shot from close range.

Maybe they went home after seeing the two tifos?
After seeing the ECS Tifo and the Tifo from North end that answered the question they had for us “Who Are You?”. They probably took the tie and ran back home to their log cabins in the woods.

He's lucky he didn't get that card earlier
when he got way up in the ref’s face just after he entered the game. He even waited around after the final whistle to give the ref some more advice. He’s not doing himself any favors by continuing to lose his cool over nothing, especially with Sigi over there watching.

Michael Tetteh looked very comfortable at LM. Estrada seems to be looking decent as a CM. Montana continues to show why people want to see more and why we’re unlikely to. Lamar Neagle had another strong game and it’s no wonder that Sigi keeps giving him shots at ends of matches.

Just got back from the match.
I was very encouraged by Tetteh. He was excellent on his goal and did a good job running up and down the left side. He did have a few poor passes, but overall I liked what I saw.

Cause neither of them are target forwards

I guess this reinforces Sigi's choices
in not using either last night (or putting Montano on the bench)
when montano came on for noonan, according to matt he was playing up top
with fucito until levesque came on
Ah, that could be right...
Don’t think they played together very long and in any case, don’t remember them linking up particularly well.

Montano must have really screwed up
He seems perma stuck in the dog house.
I think he displayed why that's the case on Sunday...
By all rights, he should have been sent off with two yellows. The first time, he got up into the face of the referee and didn’t get a card. Then he acted like a petulant child by playing keep-away with teh ball after a foul, which he was carded for. It’s stuff like that that makes it very hard to trust him in a real match.

You hope he figures it out before he runs out of chances
30th player on the bench in MLS doesn’t sound like a healthy place to be for a guy with his talent.
