It is expected that the Seattle Sounders get past San Francisco in the preliminary stage and they probably step forward as second favorites. The group isn't too strong, but what could determine Seattle's fate though is how they perform in the next few months in MLS. If, like last season, they need a late season push to make the MLS Playoffs, the Champions League becomes an afterthought for them.
SB Nation takes first look at each group
Early judgement says MLS picked to advance in every group, but I think Rosenblatt overplays the LA Galaxy in the tourney. Bruce Arena likely focuses on the MLS Cup Playoffs and that alone this year.

FC Dallas
Unfortunately Rosenblatt forgets to name David Ferreira’s team, FC Dallas, in the Group C section. I had to read that part twice to figure out an MLS squad was missing.
Fan of: Cardinals, Blues, Sounders, Yellow Jackets, Wolverines, Rams, and Blazers.
Arena doesn't mind completely cynical tactics...
…and LA seems to have more depth this year than last year. I could see them making it through by the skin of their teeth. (Seems like it’ll be a tough draw.) And I’m not sure how much it’s worth, but Arena has a bunch of experience playing away games in central America.
They really just had one bad game last year in the tournament, and out-scored the Islanders 2-1 in Puerto Rico on the return leg. Obviously, the Islanders were more focused on the aggregate score, but I don’t see LA as pushovers.
