Lower League Former Sounders Update
Starting in the Pacific Northwest of the PDL where the Kitsap Pumas and Portland Timbers U-23 wind up their US Open Cup Qualifying perfectly tied. Tuesday there will be a coin flip to determine which team gets to compete for the Open Cup and a potential regional Third Round match with the Seattle Sounders.
The Portland Timbers U-23s beat both the North Sound Seawolves and the Tacoma Tide two-nil. On Wednesday in beating the Seawolves Sean Morris went 66 minutes and got a Yellow. While, Nick Palodichuk went 89 minutes also getting a Yellow. The PDL website has yet to update with the performance from the late Sunday night game.
Peter Fewing's Pumas crushed the Tacoma Tide on Friday night 6-1. Nik Besagno went 45 minutes. Tye Perdido went 67. Bryan Meredith got in a full 90 with three saves and one allowed. On Sunday the Kitsap side edged the Seawolves 1-0. Meredith went 90 with two saves for the shutout. Besagno started and played 73 minutes while Perdido started and went 52.
Washington Crossfire is the other PNW PDL side with a former Sounder trialist on it (Kevin Forrest) but they did not play in the last week.
The Laredo Heat won two games, but neither yet have boxscores on the PDL site, nor on the Laredo Heat site. Leone Cruz said over twitter that they also faced the Reserve side of Monterrey, and that he was traveling to Cancun to pursue opportunities (Atlante is based there), but did not respond to request if the opportunity was soccer related.
The Richmond Kickers played a midweek match losing to the Charleston Battery 2-1. Jamel Wallace returned to the pitch getting 7 minutes for the Kickers. For the Battery Seedy Bah played 16 minutes off the bench and Alex Caskey earned 1 minute as well. Saturday saw both teams back in action, but not against each other (in USL you never know). Wallace Did Not Play but was available on the bench in the 2-2 draw v. FC New York. Seedy Bah was a 67th minute sub and noched an assist in the 2-1 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders. Caskey was a DNP but on the bench. Derby Carillo was the back-up keeper for FCNY with a DNP. They play later today.
Richard Martinez and the Puerto Rico Islanders won the CFU Championship and will be in the CONCACAF Champions League again. Martinez went 90 minutes in the 3-1 win over Alpha United, and 120 minutes in the 3-1 win over Tempete of Haiti in a match that saw 10v10 for 52 minutes.
In League action the NSC Minnesota Stars drew 0-0 with FC Tampa Bay. Ely Allen did not play. The Atlanta Silverbacks lost on two goals late to the Carolina Railhawks. Ciaran O'Brien made his return playing 7 minutes.

Kerry Baptiste
I asked about him on the last one of these. Dude was 29 and scored a ton of goals for Joe Public in the CCL. We brought him in on trial, let him go and then poof, nothing.

It is hard enough for me to find data on guys in the USSF system
I will continue to see what I can find on others

It's like he vanished
At least the Wiki for Adams is updated. Baptiste vanished from the face of the Earth. Last entry is about his trial w/ us. I would go on a we should have kept Baptiste over Noonan rant at this point, but no one besides Sandra_r wants to hear it.

Adams' wiki was last updated in November 2010
It says he plays for United Petrotrin, but the club’s website does not list him.
In April he played with T&T’s U-20’s in qualifying vs. Mexico.
He trialled with Chivas USA in April
That’s the latest info I could find, this from the forums at socawarriors.net.
He was set to sign a contract with Tampa Bay FC a few weeks after his Sounders trial but that fell through.
Sounds like he will be at the Gold Cup as well.
Though I like the Pumas,
don’t we want the Timbers to win the flip and somehow beat their USL-Pro opponent so we can beat them on the way to our third in a row? Is it a requirement that we beat a Timbers team in order to win the USOC?
I would find a certain please in the Timbers not qualifying for the tournament
Even though they had two shots

I want pumas to win.
I feel like they are our unofficial lower league team.
Scoreboards, not billboards.
Regular season, not pre-season.
Me too..
…kinda a home team for me (Bremerton).

Wait, Timbers’ U23 squad is eligible for the USOC?

Yes, they are registered as an independent team
The MLS side has no rights to the players, unless specifically loaned down. They are NOT a Reserve team
