Hyperpartisanship infecting the sports fan's mind
This post covers ground comparing modern partisan sports fans to political adherents who can not, and will not, accept that the opposition could at all be credited with doing anything right and proper.
My favorite line?
... a realm where fans’ access to preconceived explanations that suit their emotional allegiances is drowning reality out of the discourse.
I hope that we can overcome that here and be about discourse, rather than mythology.

Sounder @ Heart
This is one of the primary reasons that I like Sounder @ Heart. The discussion is generally civil and intelligent. Thanks guys.
Nice link...
I think a lot of us are guilty of certain aspects of it (I’ve actually avoided going into discussions about Barca/Madrid, to try and avoid being that guy, since one of those teams is the reason I got into the game in the first place), especially when it comes to referees and such, but one thing I wish people in these violent derbies would understand is: What would you have if there weren’t referees or the other team?
Sure, a bit of anger’s natural and all, but man, it’s just a game.
