Seattle Companies Export Humor, While Portland Puts A Bird On It
Remember that pretty funny advert with John Spencer in it? He was advertising for a Seattle based company - Alaska Airlines. Guess what?
A Seattle ad-firm came up with it.

As usual
Portland can’t come up with anything on their own, so they have to use Seattle to do anything right :P

They take everything Seattle does first
Then try and beat us at it. By the time they get around to doing it, nobody cares anymore.

First time I'd seen the Timbers commercial
Pretty funny, especially the end just before it cuts to the Alaska logo.
In Seattle we offer secondary inspection for any fan wearing a Tumblers jersey

I work for TSA
I haven’t seen any fan dumb enough to come through with a Timbers jersey on quite yet. I’ve had several other MLS club players coming through though.
Must admit, though, I do love those commercials...
…I only hope that we’ll likewise see some commercials featuring our Sounders sometime soon.

A sky of blue, a sea of green...(or claret)

If I have to watch Roger say "WITH AN ATTITUDE" again
I might hang myself. The rest are goofy and somewhat endearing, even if I think they could have done much better.
It's time to put this subject to rest
I heard from a fairly reliable source that Alaska Airlines was all set up to sponsor the Sounders, and Microsoft came in and simply outbid them. Rather than point out that Portland is sponsored by a Seattle based company, why not support Alaska Airlines for supporting professional soccer in America?

I think you might be taking this a bit too seriously.
It’s just a bit of fun.

I don't think anyone's mocking Alaska
Just the Timbers for being unable to secure a local sponsor.
Powell’s would have been cool. Or McMenamins.
Nos Audietis
But local sponsors aren't a good thing, necessarily.
Alaska is a large company and that’s good for league visibility. Portland doesn’t have a lot of companies of that nature, and Nike or adidas sponsoring them could cause some problems.

Come on
Nike as a sponsor, with a huge swoosh splashed all over their Adidas-made Jerseys would have been awesome.

I can't imagine that the Adidas league contract
doesn’t prohibit Nike from being a shirt sponsor.

The bottom line
is that there just aren’t that many Portland based companies. Hence they have a lame stadium sponsor, and a Seattle based team sponsor. One of their biggest reasons Seattle is better than Portland is that our economy is just so much better than theirs.

I wasn't boycotting Alaska Airlines, but am now

I know it's just a bit of fun
But it’s been so relentless on the blogs since the day they announced the Alaska sponsorship.

And this might be the 2nd time it has been mentioned here
I am not a Supporter | I am not a Fan | I am a Sounder
