Seattle Sounders Vs. Kitsap Pumas, Matchcard: Projected Lineups

Photo

You'll have to forgive us. This has been a busy week and I didn't get around to updating the Seattle Sounders stats in this. This is really just a best guess as far as starting lineups go and I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up being more accurate on our Kitsap Pumas projections (thanks David Falk of GoalWA.net). We wouldn't be surprised to see Osvaldo Alonso ou there, or a host of other normal Sounders starters.

This is, after all, a U.S. Open Cup match and Sigi Schmid takes it pretty seriously. At the very least, I expect to see lots of normal starters get playing time if this game is close at halftime.

How likely is Keller?

That’s the one piece of the puzzle that worries me.

Part of me would be surprised if he's even in the 18

If you can’t beat a PDL side with Boss and Ford…

very true

I would like to thing the whole reason we kept Boss and Ford over Meridith is because they thought Boss and Ford were both better or at least more MLS ready. If Sigi doesnt have confidence that Boss or Ford can get the job done over Meridith and Kitsap, that would pretty much defeat the whole purpose…

Great lineup

but the one thing I would like to change is, I would put Teetah at LB and put Montano at LM and move Estrada to RM. To my memory, I cant remember Estrada ever playing attacking mid. but who knows, he might be good at it. Speaking of Teetah at LB, is he still supposed to be our LB of the future with the recent emergence of Wahl. that will be interesting going foward. Also, I wonder if we will see any of Neagle tonight.

Estrada has been the attacking mid in almost every Reserve game

I would think that Tetteh’s future is a lot longer than Wahl. There’s a lot of difference in age there.

Yes

I meant to mention Estrada has played CAM in at least 3 of the 4 home reserve matches. And he’s looked pretty good there against other reserves.

thanks for informing. I would not have known.

I keep up with every reserve game. stat for stat, and starts and sub ins. But I have never been to a game. I only see the game log after or during the match. when I saw two fowards up top and estrada in the lineup, I always assumed he was playing out wide.

Tetteh has been playing LM in reserve matches regularly

He has moved back to LB after halftime a couple times, and with Montano at LW they work pretty well together and bring tons of speed. Of the 2 positions though, Tetteh has looked best at LW (IMHO).

It's Tetteh

Your lineup does leave a question of who starts at CM then instead of Estrada. We’ve got Noonan, Alonso is rested, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Carrasco could go again. You could also move Leo to CB, and push Ianni up as a CDM, and make your lineup work. I’m not sure if I’d prefer it for an actual competition, but it’s not a bad idea to give Tetteh some time at LB.

Exactly the lineup I would have expected to see if this was a reserve match

Which makes me believe tonight’s lineup will be very similar to your predictions. These guys have all played pretty well in the reserve matches in these positions, and there’s no reason to think they can’t play as well against a PDL side.

Someone over twitter said that seems like a light lineup

two things

The Sounders Reseveres, and this is basically them, are 6-0-0

There are more than 30 MLS 2011 starts there between Fucito, Gonzalez, Ianni, Scott

Yeah, I feel pretty good about that lineup.

It’s not at all light. It’s darn near MLS-calibre. We have a deep team.

Brian Burke

More from Fewing, including a hint that Brian Burke may start up top rather than Tye Perdido.
