Goal.com learns Soony Saad signs with MLS
The NCAA scoring threat would have been a solid draft pick last SuperDraft, and probably a top 5 this coming year. He left Michigan to pursue a professional deal and now signed with MLS.
He will be assigned via Lottery. The order to be determined.
For Seattle it makes sense to try and win the player, who is likely on a GA deal, but in no way should this effect their other efforts.

How this lottery works?

well if its like the other lotteries
they are weighted based on previous years record, and if you have won a lottery you cant participate. this year that means SJ RSL Phila and Columbus. Any team can opt out of it which increases the other teams’s odds. which means we have the 9th best chance if everyone participates.
A sky of blue, a sea of green...(or claret)
thanks

76 goals his senior year of HS???
I don’t care what level you are at, that kind of production is ridiculous. 19 as a freshman in the Big 10 is not bad either. Would love to see him in Rave Green.
Question is, do you try and weight the lottery by convincing others to drop out? Or do you wait and see where he lands and try to cut a deal?
why trade for him?
If Seattle is going to trade, shouldn’t they trade for help right now?

I misinterpreted this. Thought you meant that pursuing him shouldn’t effect their other efforts.
I think it depends on what the asking price is, what other prospects we have on the radar, and whether trading for help now is feasible. I’d rather trade for help now, but I don’t think it is inconceivable that we could find help now in the international market to fill out our senior roster, then maybe trade a couple of draft picks and maybe surplus allocation dollars (if there is such a thing) for Saad.
