Jay DeMerit, as you hopefully know, has quite the story. After being snubbed by Major League Soccer, he decided to try his luck in England where he eventually caught on with a seventh-division side. He eventually worked his way into the Championship and helped lead Watford to the Premier League. Really, it's the kind of story about which movies are made.

Of course, someone eventually did. That movie, Rise & Shine - The Jay DeMerit Story, has its own impressive tale, as it was produced by one of DeMerit's friends and went about raising enough money through grassroots efforts like small screenings to get distribution.

Although that funding goal has been met, the movie is not yet in distribution, leaving it to these screenings to spread the word. One such screening is being co-hosted by Sounder at Heart and Gorilla FC next Wednesday at the George & Dragon Pub in Fremont. The screening will start at 8 p.m., right after the MLS All-Star Game.

Most of the Sounder at Heart crew is planning to be there, and this should be a great opportunity to meet and mingle with both us and other readers. There may be a suggested donation at the door, but it wouldn't be more than $5.
