Seattle Sounders v Columbus Crew Gamethread
The Columbus Crew have yet to beat the Seattle Sounders in these brief years in MLS. That does not matter though. That is statistics as trivia. It has little relevance to the match on hand. The match on hand features a depleted side from central Ohio and a fully strength, generally rested side from Western Washington. The tactical and player match-ups will be the deciding factor, and there Seattle has the advantage.
Saturday's game will not be one where the Rave Green have to play conservative and try to pull off a dramatic road result with a 1-nil victory. This is a game where Seattle's top offensive weapons can be unleashed and play the attacking style that fans and ownership love to see. With a piecemeal defensive five Seattle's forward tandem of Mike Fucito and Fredy Montero should be able to use their respective speed and technical skill to create opportunities. As the Crew are without Eddie Gaven, they miss one of their key offensive players as well. This could be a trap game, or it could be another match continuing the streak which Sigi Schmid's men are on at this time.
The game is on KONG and 97.3 FM with Arlo White calling the action

Sounders have always done well in open free flowing type of games. The past couple of games have shown a new found ability to get points when outgunned, countering effectively. Now they need to break down bunker and counter tactics.

Is there any chance that Neagle can earn his way into a protected spot?
He’s been in fantastic form lately.

Renteria is flopping his way into Carlos Ruiz territory
Get TOUCHED and just flail out and dive.
I disagree
He doesn’t have to get touched.
You do all the work for us, Honey Badger, and we'll just eat whatever you find.
Elbow a guy in the face, no card. Then that's a card.
But wow, only Sparkles’ first card. Cool.

A little payback from Parke there on Renteria

Oh my goodness
Own goal? Really? Poor crew.

They say that the best defense is a good offense
but I don’t think that this is what they meant.

Sub out Neagle, please.
I want to see the stadium go mental for him after this game.

Own goal was scored by Gardner
He just scored on us for that free kick

Gotta take Neagle off

Probably a fair yellow for that.

Amazing ball from Montero to Flaco there.

It's been really cool
seeing Neagle get better and better every game this season. He’s been such a delight since that RSL game.
Nice interplay leads to ball right in front of keeper. We lose the ball to a goal kick.

Man Montero..
you’ve had some lovely plays today, great passes, beautiful set ups.. How have you not scored?
Now with more lemon bars!

Strange spin on the ball to Flaco there.

This team
is just amazing. They lose Zak and OBW, Hurtado out for a short time, Evans is on and off, Montero with a tender wrist and a cast, and look where they are.
What'd he say? My stream died.

Team Effort
Happy to be here, loves the team, fans, etc.
Just an awesome guy!
Can the picture for the postgame highlights be the VIVA ROSALES picture?

But there are many choices this year...
Especially among the past month or two.

These are choices

Uhhh... Bernie
-“Don’t ‘uhhh Bernie’ me! This little rat is guilty!”
-“You and your son can go now Mrs. Parr.”
That phrasing just called for the reference…
You've got an "Incredible" memory
Or did you look that exchange up?
I've got a really silly head for movies...
…if only it were as effective for everything else ;)
It's kind of awesome
that every time someone goes back to watch the highlight of Jeff Cunningham breaking the MLS all time scoring record, they will see our Seattle Sounders with a 4-0 scoreline before the historic moment. I guess what I’m saying is, that’s a silver lining I can live with.

Or that when they see the
free kick goal they scored, the same guy scores for us less than a minute later!

If I wasn’t working I’d be in tears. Thanks #ECS for the chant. “Get well Gracie.”
Incredibly classy from ECS.

It was a special moment for all

This result also does pleasant things for our goal differential.
We are now behind LA by 3 in both points and GD.
Second in the league in both categories as well.
I can't wait to hear this week's Around the League
Especially after the Columbus correspondent called out S@H for underestimating the Crew =P
oh man, and i didn't even get to go on...
I kinda bashed the Crew the last time I was on.

Could the last two matches have gone better? Wow. I hope we keep rolling on Tuesday.
"If you want your dreams to come true, don't sleep in."
Was anyone else's matchday live about five minutes behind?
I had to stop reading the gamethread because it was spoiling goals
A bit of delay always happens...
I always ignore the gamethreads apart from extended breaks in play for that reason.
