George John To Join FC Dallas In Seattle After Blackburn Deal Collapses
Looks like FC Dallas will have George John when they play the Sounders on Tuesday in the U.S. Open Cup. John is on his way to Seattle to join his teammates after his transfer to Blackburn fell through, presumably when the two sides failed to come to an agreement on personal terms.

I hope he takes an International Roster Spot now.
Since he’s Greek and stuff.
Sorry for him..
It would have been a great opportunity. His stock will surely drop after we take ’em all on Tuesday!
He must have watched Blackburn play

Shitballs
That wasn’t the kind of news I felt like hearing today. Oh well, we’ll just have to beat Dallas at full strength. On the plus side, he could be a bit rusty after nearly 2 weeks off from training with the rest of his team.

quite honestly...
There’s problem at least a chance he doesn’t start. Will have practiced maybe one day.

I think that's a possibility as well
but Lloyd wasn’t in the 18 for Saturday’s match, and I have to imagine he didn’t travel here with the rest of the team. That should make them desperate to get as much out of John as possible.
Will Shea be on USMNT duty?
I thought he was going to miss the match.

No
Shea will fly to the USMNT camp the night after the game or next morning… sorry man you can’t get out of him playing that easily lol.

Must have been a pretty minuscule offer from Blackburn
for it to have been beat out by his current salary in Dallas
Nos Audietis
Sounds like Blackburn might have backed out
Probably something to do with Samba not moving. On the positive side, Arsenal is looking for a some good defenders…
This is what I took away as well.
They saw John as Samba’s replacement. But Samba didn’t move, so they cancelled the deal.
And Arsenal’s looking for good just about everything, other than RVP. But that doesn’t break my heart, at all.

His contract's out soon, right?
I would guess that Blackburn’s offer was much better than Dallas’, but that he expects he’d be able to get a better contract as a free agent when his deal with Dallas ends.
This exactly
there is a reason why John hasn’t signed a better contract with Dallas. We know they’re willing to make a long-term commitment after seeing the contract Shea signed.
Perhaps
There is also room to believe that John really wanted to finish the season with FCD, since they’re making a good run at some bling, and he asked to stay through the end of the season and was told no. Despite having not signed a better contract with Dallas one would think he’d love the opportunity to make up for the own goal gaff that possibly cost us the cup last year. Everyone seems kinda hush hush about him being back other than a big cheer that he is here.

I think they were just disappointed when they found out
that John is not an elaborate Joaquin Phoenix hoax identity.

Hideously Off Topic, but can anyone tell me about the NYC-LA and PHI-NE matches?
Have they been bumped back to a later date because of Irene?

yes
Here’s my story about it.

My source
(who is close to John) tells me the breakdown was over the transfer terms, not John’s contract. John was in England and informed by Blackburn, not Dallas, that the deal had fallen apart. He’s very disappointed. It sounds like his relationship with Hyndman is poor, so I would be surprised to see him re-sign with Dallas when his contract ends after this year. He’d be a free (outside MLS) so whether he ends up with Rovers is anyone’s guess.
