Practice Report: Injuries, Recovery And Planning To Win
With a game against CS Herediano that can nearly lock-up entry into the knockout round of the CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday and a Saturday game against the Vancouver Whitecaps that can assure the MLS Cup Playoffs things were generally upbeat at Starfire for the Seattle Sounders. There are still individual players who are carrying injuries and others recovering from injuries/fitness that will change how Sigi Schmid manages his gameday lineups. But step one is winning at Century Link no matter the lineup;
It is still an important game, because of the way our group results have gone in the group. We set as our objective going into th tournament that we want to do well in our home games, to win our home games. We've won a couple road games and those are bonus points as far as I'm concerned. We want to win this one because we are at home tomorrow.
He had an update on Sammy Ochoa, who could go "20 or 30 minutes" if needed. While O'Brian White is likely to progress forward in his work and has a positive attitude towards recovery. Mauro Rosales MRI is this afternoon. He was walking and stated that he feels better today than yesterday. Mike Fucito also noted in passing that his ankle is a little sore from a hard tackle. Sigi's lineup juggling we've already noted is both difficult and frequent, but he's never gotten used to doing it.
You constantly do it. Sometimes there's a challenge in it. In terms of 'can you put out a group that can work for each other, that can compliment each other. Maybe you don't have week's of training to work them together as a group and understand how to fully play together. Going into it as a coach you know these are things I'm worried about in this game, these are things that I think will come off and then you just wait and see. In the end it's a great opportunity for the players.
One of those players who may get an opportunity is Josh Ford.

Rosales has made it almost impossible
To argue he is not our MVP. Im very worried that losing him will make us kind of an average MLS team.
On the bright side
while Mauro is greatly missed, we are deepest in midfield and have shown that we can win without him in the mix. God help us if we lose Montero or Fucito. We are thinnest up front by far vs MLS. Re Herediano/Concacaf, to their credit Jaqnoonvesque has shown they can play there.

Mauro out 2-4 weeks
According to Mayers. Nooooo!!! I’m sure being safe he’ll miss most of the rest of the season including the open cup final :(
I hate feeling paranoid, but that doesn't mean people are out to get us
Odd that no stars from LA or NYC have been hacked down the way Dallas, Real Salt Lake, and Seattle’s best players have been hacked down by thugs.
If someone looked at the facts on the field and told me there was one set of rules for Donovan, Becks, and Henry and another set of rules for Morales, Ferreira, Zakuani, and Rosales, I’d say they were crazy. I just wouldn’t have any evidence to refute the argument.
And if that same person looked at the facts and said there is one salary cap for LA and NY, and another salary cap for the rest of the league, I’d have a hard time arguing otherwise.
Just sayin’
if it makes you feel any better
Apparently NYRB is going to have to make a bunch of moves to get under the cap next year.

The Impact may be able to build a good team just in the re-allocation draft

I'm curious about l'Impact and how good they'll be
Will they be le Crappé like previous expansion clubs from Canada or more in the Sounders mold. From what I remember, they were one of the better run clubs in USL1.
Up until this year yes
This year they’ve been ass.
Vancouver was a better club than Portland at USL level though, so sometimes that doesn’t translate.
