We're still rated at two and a half stars

See: 0:58.

Same as Van.

And Van is higher rated on both attacking and defending while we have them beat in the midfield.

Nonsense. God damned homers up there at EA Canada.

There's also one with Donvan playing Tim Lincecum.

In it you see that the Galaxy are rated at 3 stars.

So there are at least two tiers of MLS teams (3s and 2.5s) and we’re not in the tier with the Galaxy, rather they lumped us in with Van. Ouch.

doubt they were playing a recent build of the game

They usually tweak the rosters before release. They had better do so at least. Seattle ought to be a 3 star team this time around.

I'm guessing that the game will have Zakuani

Not part of the original 18, since he’s been hurt all season, but you’ll still be able to put him into the squad before the game (that’s how it worked in Fifa 11). But still, those ratings are kind of a joke.

They also pretty much automatically dock anyone who joins MLS

They did it for Henry and Donovan. I’m sure they’ll do the same for Keane and others.

Note that Hope got a Levesque brace

And a third by Montero. I believe Steve scored with Chiumiento.

Fifa 11/12 scores are global

So that means SSFC is 2.5/3 stars versus all leagues globally. Places like Man U are usually 4, 4.5 star in-game.

star ratings are kind of arbitrary

i used bayern and they are a 4.5 star team. The threshholds between the stars seem to require all stats to be above 80. A 79-84-82 for instance is only a 4.5 star but an 80-80-80 is a 5 star if i’m not mistaken despite the former having a higher average across all categories.

Those individual scores also piss me off as some are blatantly wrong

I noticed that ridiculous speedsters (think Sanna Nyassi) were scored not as high as they likely should be on FIFA 11. When I ran the Sounders through a couple seasons I ended up tweaking some of the stats a little like that, or things like Fredy’s dribbling feeling too low compared to other players.

It is weird doing Virtual Pro, though, and seeing “me” having worked my way up to all 80-82s at center back, which would get me probably an EPL starting gig. Poor little attacking MLSers, getting stepped on…

The games all have weird little kinks like that on ratings

It’s sort of unavoidable, on any games outside of probably baseball in particular and NFL football probably, where you can really firmly pin down metrics comparatively. I’ve been playing a season with the Mariners in MLB 2k10 and the numbers there (scale of 1-100 on Pitching, Hitting, Fielding, or possibly Overall hitting/pitching, I forget) “feel” really spot-on, and shifts based on what lineup and pitcher you’re putting out.

Aww continuity fail

Hope scores her second goal in the 36th minute. Next clip is Nash blasting it over the goal in the 31st minute with the score 2-1.

Also, ManUtd must be rated 5 stars, the clip with Landon has Arsenal at 5.

Arsenal at 5?

Obviously not updated with how they are playing recently…

I would take a 3-1 win this Saturday

I thought Nash was pretty funny. Lincecum beating Landycakes was even better.
