Sounders Offensive Production By Role
There's been a ton written lately about the Seattle Sounders FC offense lately. A look at goal scoring from forwards, due to the lack of scoring by Fredy Montero lately, and the look at the shift of Montero back to more of a trequartista. Both really look at the lack of the "other" forward scoring, as much as they do Montero, but in different ways.
Of course, with as man writers as we have around here you can get nearly an infinite look at certain situations. With Lamar Neagle's dominant performance against the Columbus Crew (he won and lost Goal of the Week, nominated for two) it was about time to update the Points Per 90 chart anyway. All stats are for all competitions for the Senior team.
First up, but "type" of player - Forward, Wide Mid, Center Mid, Fullback, Centerback.

There are some weak points there offensively. Most of them come from players like Pat Noonan (listed as Target Forward), Nate Jaqua and Roger Levesque. The individual statistics after the break show that there are a handful of players who have hardly played, but most have played a lot. It is also quite apparent why Sigi Schmid has gone with a small/small pairing lately.

Nice analysis there.
If I had to select player that I expected more before the start of the season, it would be Friberg. Not so much in goal department, but more assists for sure. Also, I know Neagle plays at LW, but to me, he seems more as a midfield player than LW. It just seems that he and Zakuani are not playing the same position.
Both are right footed players on the left side
who are there for the offensive, goal scoring ability, not their defense. Neagle tends to be a little narrower, but he’s certainly higher up the pitch than the CM (either Evans or Friberg).

Neagle
Let me take this opportunity to say, acutely aware of priorities we have to other players, and limited ability to leverage every desirable player, I will be incredibly upset if we somehow can’t hold on to Lamar Neagle. He needs to be protected and fit our budget, one way or another. Along with Mauro, there’s no question he’s been the most exciting players this year.
I don't think that will be an issue
Can’t imagine a scenario where Neagle is not protected.
