Demetrious Johnson, like so many, wasn't born in Washington, but he lives here now. As much as a fighter lives in any specific city. That, and an XBox sponsorship means that he's sporting a Seattle Sounders top at his pre-fight press conference. Thanks Beau Dure for making me aware.

But it looks like Kyle Beckerman might receive a multi-game suspension for his headbutt against Chicago last night. A red card means he misses one more automatically. But I assume that reduces their chances of beating us for 2nd place, but it also reduces their chances of beating or drawing with LA to cut their lead down. Thoughts?

2nd place
Does it really matter even a little bit if we get 2nd instead of 3rd? We’ll be playing a home away against RSC either way correct?

home in 2nd leg means over time at home
also 2nd is more likely to go to CCL as a replacement team than 3rd

Indeed
4 winners are USOC winner, SS winner, and the two teams in the finals. If any spots open up due to a team doing two or more of those, it goes down the table.
So if LA wins the SS (as predicted) then make the final, Seattle gets a spot. We also get a spot if we make the final, of course. And for winning the USOC, though it’s better to get it for another reason since you can avoid a play in game.
Nos Audietis
My main concern with that
is the lower likelihood of beating LA, not necessarily us getting 2nd or 3rd. Even though our chances are slim if we could get everything to go our way, the shield is still technically in reach.

Demetrius Johnson has a 14-1-0 MMA record.
I’ll take that! :) Good stuff!

Demetrius is the fastest Mouse in all....
Well I know jack about fighting, but after watching a couple interviews on youtube he seems like a humble guy. He’s got a blue collar job, he wants to work on his craft, and he likes xbox 360 stuff. He was wearing a xbox shirt after his fight with Kid Yamamoto (don’t both fact checking me… i’m “pretty sure” i’m right)
so this guy can be my favorite fighter till another guy wear a Sounders kit, then I’ll have to pick.
The bigger part of the story is the cross promotion and more visibility for the SSFC brand
He’s a great fighter though, was good in the WEC and has stepped it up since the merger into the UFC by beating the former WEC Bantamweight title holder Miguel Torres, hope he gives Cruz a beating.
actually
He’s been signed by the sounders to be used as a late match sub against Colorado and Brian Mullen.

Yes please!
rec’ed for suggesting wrecking Mullan.
Mullan: “I’ve done that tackle hundreds of times and would do it again.”
-sign Demetrious Johnson—
-after the next game with Colorado—
Johnson: “I’ve done that tackle hundreds of times and I’ve never seen anyone’s head pop off like that.”

Johnson is fighting for the belt tonight.
Fight starts at 6pm and ends at 8:30 on Versus. This is a 5 round fight, which means this fight could start as early as ~7:20 or so.
Johnson lost but he tested Cruz for all 5 rounds
One of the better 5 round fights I’ve seen, the smalls don’t gas, both fighters were a flurry of motion throughout, was rooting for Johnson but them’s the breaks, I think everyone knew Cruz was going to be tough.
Johnson wore an XBox Live walkout shirt and hat, on the back was his name and some other text, while he was warming up in the changing room pre fight he was wearing a black soccer style light zip up jacket that I think had XBox Live on it and had the soccer style tri stripes from the neck to down the arms.
I caught the fight half way through the 4th round.
The official scores of the bout were 50-45, 49-46, and 50-45, but Johnson seemed to be holding his own. Sounds like Cruz fought with a broken left hand most of the fight.
