Reports are that Andrew Weber (formerly of, and inexplicably waived by, San Jose) and Tyrel Lacey (just back from a stint with now-bankrupt Norwegian top side FC Lyn-Oslo) are both training with the Sounders today.
I'll try not to read too much into this, as players in flux frequently land in a training camp to keep sharp. Coaches also love to bring guys like these two in to keep competition at a high level. However, just as frequently, an arrangement like this is meant to get a look at the players in question with an eye toward keeping them around.
The takeaway - if I'm Ford and Meridith, I just amped my game up from "easing into it" to "no holds barred".
Others tweeted by Joshua Mayers to be in training: Sounders Academy alum Darwin Jones, 2011 Draftee Alex Caskey, and 2011 invitee Jonathan Prieto.
UPDATE:
@joshuamayers "Andrew Weber (formerly of San Jose) and goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey"... does that make 5 GKs at training today??
@x_Slacker 5 on the training camp roster. Not sure I spotted Weber.
