PRINCE TAGOE WATCH 2012

Hello, and welcome to PRINCE TAGOE WATCH 2012. With renewed rumor, speculation and general excitement surrounding Prince Tagoe, a PRINCE TAGOE WATCH just seems appropos. Oui?

Is Prince Tagoe under contract?
No.

Has Prince Tagoe signed a contract?
No.

Has Prince Tagoe signed a contract with the Seattle Sounders?
No.

Is Prince Tagoe close to signing a contract?
Probably not. Certainly not. But its silly season!

What does your gut tell you?
This seems like a silly question because my gut doesn't seem qualified to make a statement on this issue. Honestly, my gut isn't even really interested. My gut is only interested in food. Preferably good food. Like the stir fry my wife made tonight! My gut says says THAT was excellent. Yum.

What is the latest?
See here.

Are the Sounders still in the thick of things?
Probably as much as any other team.

Anything else?
Yes. My apologies to Jeff Sullivan and the rest of the Lookout Landing crew.

My gut feeling

a mix between amused and sickened at someone imitating Jeff.

Would we still want him.

If he’s the guy who ditched us at the last minute in the summer to stay with his current team and he then fell out of favor with them – are we sure we want him ? I’d take a chance on messing up team chemistry if it was a player like Drogba but I’m not sure I’d do it for a Prince Tagoe who I’d never heard of before the rumors kicked up. Yes he plays for Ghana but Fernandez plays for Uruguay and now Evans plays for the USA. Is he good enough to potentially be worth the headaches.

Even

if we wanted him Seattle would have to move someone (ex sell Fernandez) in order to have the necessary cap space.

unless he was willing to take a pay cut

he’s not eligible to play anywhere else until august as he’s played in two leagues this year. Of the other “summer leagues” i’d think we’d be a fairly attractive option. sign him to a short term deal for less money if possible. I know even this seems pretty unlikely, but it’s more possible than I thought when I first considered that we might be able to get him.

Wouldn't

that only apply if the leagues were using the same calender?

yes

Bundesliga and the Turkish Super Lig are on the same calendar. If he wants to play before this fall, he has to do so in a summer league.

fell out of favor

He wasn’t necessarily in favor at Hoffenheim to begin with. He got some playing time early in the season because a couple of guys were injured. He never really got a shot at Bursaspor. Only 3 starts and 11 total appearances, with an average of 36 minutes per match isn’t much to go on. If I had to guess, I’d say he was cut because he was too expensive for someone that wasn’t starting.

Queen Tagoe

Is Prince Tagoe more likeable than Kevin-Prince Boateng?
Yes, Kevin-Prince Boateng is one of the most unlikeable players in all of World Soccer.

Is Prince Tago more likeable than NY Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara ?
No

Is Prince Tagoe likely to fit in, let alone be productive, let alone be a divisive force on the Sounders?
No.

Do Sounders fans want Prince Boateng, Derrick Boaten, Jerome Boateng or Prince Tagoe on our squad for the price he will command?
No

Only if it’s called yachting.

Definitely do NOT want anyone named boating.

But if there’s a player out there with anything resembling yacht, yachting – or Thurston Howell – in his name, sign him!
