Around SBN: Devils Beat Rangers, Head To Stanley Cup Finals

Kelyn Rowe goes 2, 4 & 5. Sounders are seen picking Casey Townsend (Maryland) by two while the other sees GA player Sam Garza out of UCSB. In the second round there is more variety with one going off board with Washington Husky Jacob Hustedt getting the nod. The other pickers go with UCLA players Andy Rose and Eder Arreola.

Vagenas, Seamon, and Arreola

Got almost all our innuendo names covered. Just need to draft a guy named Bunghole.

I want some of whatever Ives Galaracep is having

His latest big board has the Sounders picking Chandler Hoffman with the 15th pick! If that scenario plays out, I’ll be gopher dancing all over the living room.

Thats my usual response to what Ives puts out

(the request he share whatever it is he’s on, not the gopher dancing)

Ives is quite good at some things

League wide issues such as who has signed as a GA
Eastern Team specific things

All national people have issues of proximity bias.

I agree

I’ve come to enjoy reading what Ives and his staff have to say, even if it leaves me shaking my head from time to time. Like when his second pass at this year’s mock draft had the Sounders picking a GK with their second round pick. Mind numbing. At least this time, I could dream that he got the pick right even if I think there isn’t a hope in heck that Hoffman is falling to 15th. He’s a player that I’ve been lauding for a few weeks as someone the Sounders should consider trading up to get. And his performance today is only going to reiterate that point. He should have a great combine. He is on the deepest of the 4 combine teams and should benefit from who he is playing with.

A number of players stood out today including Hoffman. Baptiste and Barry both appeared to have respectable games on defense. Enzo Martinez really shined in the second game as a creative 2 way player. Looking forward to watching what happens over the rest of the combine.

Actually, his proximity bias doesn't bother me so much

Its things akin to (paraphrasing, and probably exaggerating since I’m not going to go back and actually find the quote) “he could be great, good, not very good or a bust depending on how well he pans out” being passed off as analysis that bother me.

That being said I do read his site for exactly the reasons you list.

Had to laugh a bit to see one draft saying TFC takes Jean-Baptiste at 4th and the other two having him picked up at 12th. The second option seems far more likely.

has updated their mock draft.

They have us taking at 15 Babayele Sodade (FW), Ethan Finlay (FW) or Dom Dwyer (FW) and at 34 Eder Arreola (MF), Lucky Mkosana (FW) or Jacob Hustedt (MF)
