George John Apparently Going On Loan To West Ham
Local boy George John will apparently be going out on loan to West Ham. It's not yet being called a full transfer, but it sounds like it could turn into one.

Isn't this shaping up to be the Sounders best opportunity yet?
- We have nearly all of the members of a very good team returning.
- We’ve made very promising off season acquisitions.
- We have the most favorable schedule possible with two home games each against the best teams in our Division.
- Other teams in the league are losing their best players due to injuries or retirements.
I’m not trying to jinx it, but how can this year not be looked at as the Sounders best chance yet to win it all?
The Galaxy are also returning almost all of their core and have a full year of Keane
As the old saying goes, the Champs are the Champs until someone else beats them.
Omar Gonzalez is a big part of the Gals defense, his torn ACL will keep him out for a while

True, I had forgotten about that
But the Sounders have lost (in order of 2011 minutes):
Keller 3810 minutes
Riley 3241
Friberg 2454
Wahl 2259
Jaqua 1285
Noonan 706
Boss 360
Montano 121
Graham 90
I know that the Sounders have good replacements lined up for Keller (Gspurning) and Riley (Johansson) and that Wahl’s basically been replaced with Burch, but until we see how they fit, it’s hard to think of anyone else as the favorite before the Galaxy.
I think the distance between the favorites and challengers has been significantly narrowed.
But as you say, until we see how the replacements fit in and until we see how the Gals deal with losing a starting center back and starting central midfielder the Gals are still the favorite.

Juninho gone and Gonzalez injured
The champs are the champs until dethroned but these are big pieces in their arsenal. They have replaced Junhino with another South American but it still remains to be seen how he acclimates. Gonzo is more problematic.
LA has also used their early season cohesion to build a strong point base in SS competition the past two years. That cohesion is likely to be tested early this season.
Seattle also has some new elements to integrate particularly in the back. Should be fun watching the teams compete.
