How does a defender win Goal of the Year? Pretty simple, he just does the amazing against the Keeper of the Year, the Defender of the Year and the third best Defender of the Year. Patrick Ianni did just that. How many different ways do you want to watch the amazing?

Ianni beat out Montero, Nagbe and Nguyen. Most often the winners are forwards or creative mids. For a defender to pull off a strike like that is just amazing. Some may think it takes luck, or the gift of Zlatan, but the answer is simpler - it takes a beaver tail.
Patrick Ianni has one. He now also has the recognition of scoring the most spectacular goal of the 2012 MLS season.
