No, they don't use lottery balls - Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE
Seattle, San Jose and Portland enter lottery to win US Youth International defender.
UPDATE: The Timbers won the lottery.
When Mobi Fehr signed with MLS it was after several practices down in Portland over the Fall. The lottery to assign him to a team will take place tomorrow. The Portland Timbers have the best chance at winning (they got that by losing a lot) at 83.1%, with Seattle Sounders FC at 15.5% and the San Jose Earthquakes at 1.4% per MLSSoccer.com.
Fehr was generally a centerback with the US U17 2011 World Cup team, but may be more suited to a more offensive position in MLS based on his usage in Timbers training sessions (link 1, link 2, link 3). The winner of this lottery will be developing a project, but it is a project that has time in both Japanese and Swiss professional environments, as well as Bradenton. He is still just 18 years old.
With the Sounders needing some youth in their backline it is little surprise that they entered this Allocation Lottery.
