Nos Audietis Episode 39: Roster Talk, Preseason Scheduling And More

Like most of the Seattle Sounders web community this week's major topic is the First XI, the gameday 18 and who will make the roster 30. This week's guest was probably the most difficult booking ever for Jeremiah and Aaron as they had to convince Dave to join them in the new yet-to-be-named studio. Hopefully the conversation doesn't sound too crowded, but the ability to look each other in the eyes should lead to a high quality three-way live discussion.
Segment two mainly focuses on the Sounders preseason schedule, including the free game against Jaguares (listen to Dave butcher that name), but also on the pacing and structure of the preseason. We also get onto a bit of a tangent as to whether the LA Galaxy should continue to loan Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane. Furthering their loans would make them underdogs for a very compelling matchup against Toronto FC. The second leg of that match-up will be on after the Beat Santos Viewing Party (RSVP to attend).
The third segment is meainly the twitter Q&A. Unlike most weeks the Q&A is solely serious team oriented questions. Topics like break out player, captaincy and the nature of scouting are covered. Some of the skipped submitted questions were quite funny and have been tabled for future reference.
We're are still looking for sponsors, now that we have a fancy new studio. If you're interested, shoot us an email to NosAudietis(at)gmail(dot)com. If you'd like to advertise on the site as well that can be arranged too.
And as always we answer some of your questions! To get your questions answered please make sure to follow @NosAudietis on Twitter and also, if you haven't already "Like" our Facebook Page!

So if it helps I'm getting this weird deal where it says Episode 38 was released today
But it’s still Episode 38 when I listen to it. Was the wrong episode uploaded, perhaps?

You should put some carpets over those windows when you’re recording or something, lots of car horns goin’ on.

I thought all podcasters lived in basements?!
You will hear us on Brougham, you will hear us on Occidental, you will hear us on King. Our yachts are all around you, there is no escape.
we may live in basements, but we record in abandoned warehouses

I assure you
We are aware of the environmental noise, and can also assure you that carpet on the windows won’t help. Ultimately we’re doing the best we have with zero dollars (actually it costs us to make this podcast). This will come along in time but until then it’s baby steps until we can afford to.

didn't hear a single car horn, btw
You must have some pretty serious headphones.

i suppose any headphones are probably enough
But seriously, it was enough to feel the need to comment? I didn’t hear them at all and I had it playing on speakers.

the speed at which iTunes gets stuff is a bit out of our control
Not sure what happened here, though, as some people were apparently able to download it with no problems a few hours ago. Not sure where it is now.

There was a 17 year old that was on trial with for the U18 team
I think that’s who Jeremiah is referring to.

Technical issues
Sorry about all the tech issues on this one. There was some scheduling problems that caused some people to get them first. It does all appear to be fixed now.

Nice job this week.
I thought you three had a really good rapport. I like this format the best — it’s a loose host w/ two panelists kind of thing. Except nobody is yelling at each other or trying to be a comedian. Nobody is named Simon, either, so that probably helps.
The sound was good, too (except in one instance where I think Aaron may have moved away from the microphone).

Maybe I have an OBW fixation...
But I can’t believe there was no mention of the OBW injury issue in this episode. You guys talked about the cut list and even laid out the division of starts (and minutes) among Ochoa & Fucito in all competitions. We can’t ignore his spot on the roster and more importantly his salary cap hit.
It’s seemed clear to me you have zero expectation of OBW to impact SSFC this season. If that’s the case—and I consider y’all to be some of the most informed outside of the club on the issue—then cut has to come.
Section 120, Row G, Seat 13
OBW
True, decision time on OBW is coming up. So I think one of two things is happening: either the club has more info about white’s condition (i.e. prognosis is better than we think) and they’re not letting on, or they are just waiting to cut him until the last minute, in case a miracle happens in his recovery process that makes them decide to keep his current contract. Or, they are going to renegotiate his contract with compensation based on recovery as others here have mentioned. So I guess three things. Either way, I believe they have until the roster deadline to decide, no?
by GnomeJake on Feb 13, 2012 6:36 PM PST via iPhone app up reply actions
OBW
There’s just not much to say. We don’t have any insight into his condition. I really doubt the team is going to lock up $100k in salary if they think he might never play again.
