Again the link above is the team's official live blog of today's game. It is the only coverage of the 3 periods of 30 minutes you'll find. Gaschk says that Eddie Johnson is supposed to play, but it will primarily be Reserves today.

Lineup is out

Only one other “starter”

Michael Gspurning, Zach Scott, Andrew Duran, Patrick Ianni, Marc Burch, Cordell Cato, Servando Carrasco, Mike Seamon, Christian Sivebæk, Eddie Johnson, David Estrada.

But a heavy dose of second team players.

Maybe the most notable thing is that Gaschk has the hot key for æ figured out!

Sivebaek playing left wing

This isn't the first time he's done that

but Sivebaek is clearly the #3 winger right now.

Although we could use a striker

Orlando Sa seems to be buried on the bench, we had to sell Zamora because he was being petulant, and Andy Johnson is old. We bought Pavel Pogrebnyak, but I’m not sure he’s a long term answer and he’s older than EJ. Hopefully someone in our reserves steps up.

Possibly a new policy in PKs?

It would be hard to be less effective than last year’s mishmash of PK takers.

Foot injury

Yeah, Fucito’s diagnosed Sesamoiditis foot injury in 2009 kept him inactive for a period of time.

Here’s hoping that the hamstring ‘injury’ is not serious. First Ochoa comes in out of shape last year when we get him off the Allocation Draft and now it looks like we could have a bit of the same thing with Eddie Johnson after another Allocation Draft pickup. :(

Fucito was parked in 2009

his injury, if he had one, was rather minor.

They can be

One example is a wide receiver that played for USC last season. I think he suffered 3 concussions that happened because he had a habit of lowering his head after catching the ball. Because he lowered his head, DB’s would hit him in the head instead of in the chest.

Similarly, a soccer player that tends to lower his head near the ball can open himself up to receiving blows to the head. I’m not saying Fucito has a tendency to do that, but the point I’m making is that trauma injuries can be indications of likely future injury if they occur as a result of habit.

by Randy Meeker on Feb 19, 2012 2:20 PM PST up reply actions   1 recs

True, for concussions

and from personal experience broken ankles

still the general trend is for trauma to be less of an indication of likely future injury.

Do you think they've given up on Tetteh as a Fullback?

Is he going to be a Mid full time now? If so that might help explain some of the logic behind the trade.

defensive positioning was bad. Crossing ability wasn’t great. So stuff to work on either at left mid or left back.

Carrasco shifts to CB

and more changes. I’ll just quote Matt

Babayele Sodade, Andy Rose and Alex Caskey replace Cordell Cato, Patrick Ianni and David Estrada. Sodade is playing forward with Ochoa, Caskey is on the right wing and Rose is in the midfield with Seamon, with Carrasco moving to center back

BIG/BIG pairing! Two Towers!

Caskey on the right today, let’s see if that lasts.

Also interesting to note

that Carrasco is playing CB, not Rose, who has done so in the past. Also Rose and Seamon playing together is interesting.

by The96Picks on Feb 19, 2012 2:02 PM PST up reply actions

This can also be read as "Clearling the bench against a college team"
Amadou Sanyang replaces Cordell Cato at the break. He plays right back and Roger Levesque shifts up to the right side of midfield. Alex Caskey moves to the middle with Mike Seamon moving to the left side with Michael Tetteh shifting to left back. Harlinton Gutierres comes in at center back for Servando Carrasco and Bryan Meredith replaces Andrew Weber in goal

Tetteh and Sanyang as fullbacks!

His injury is classified as a mystery. It may be related to the same knee injury that prevented him from getting his first competitive start.
