Sounders v Florida Gulf Coast Univeristy Team Live Blog
Again the link above is the team's official live blog of today's game. It is the only coverage of the 3 periods of 30 minutes you'll find. Gaschk says that Eddie Johnson is supposed to play, but it will primarily be Reserves today.

Lineup is out
Only one other “starter”
Michael Gspurning, Zach Scott, Andrew Duran, Patrick Ianni, Marc Burch, Cordell Cato, Servando Carrasco, Mike Seamon, Christian Sivebæk, Eddie Johnson, David Estrada.
But a heavy dose of second team players.
Maybe the most notable thing is that Gaschk has the hot key for æ figured out!

This isn't the first time he's done that
but Sivebaek is clearly the #3 winger right now.

As a non Fulham Supporter
I can say they are most definitely not.

Although we could use a striker
Orlando Sa seems to be buried on the bench, we had to sell Zamora because he was being petulant, and Andy Johnson is old. We bought Pavel Pogrebnyak, but I’m not sure he’s a long term answer and he’s older than EJ. Hopefully someone in our reserves steps up.
Sivebaek earns the penalty
and then buries it.
This is the second time the fouled player has taken the kick from spot. Odd

Possibly a new policy in PKs?
It would be hard to be less effective than last year’s mishmash of PK takers.

The Sounders' site normally has highlights later right?
I wouldn’t mind seeing EJ’s goal.
They should
They may not at Atlante though. Matt said that’s a closed door thing.

Lackluster opposition, but EJ involved in all three goals so far.
At least he can link up with his teammates to SOME degree

selective memory
from one “snake bitten” player to another perhaps
Some of Fucito's were strains
but his most notable was from trauma

Foot injury
Yeah, Fucito’s diagnosed Sesamoiditis foot injury in 2009 kept him inactive for a period of time.
Here’s hoping that the hamstring ‘injury’ is not serious. First Ochoa comes in out of shape last year when we get him off the Allocation Draft and now it looks like we could have a bit of the same thing with Eddie Johnson after another Allocation Draft pickup. :(
Fucito was parked in 2009
his injury, if he had one, was rather minor.

They can be
One example is a wide receiver that played for USC last season. I think he suffered 3 concussions that happened because he had a habit of lowering his head after catching the ball. Because he lowered his head, DB’s would hit him in the head instead of in the chest.
Similarly, a soccer player that tends to lower his head near the ball can open himself up to receiving blows to the head. I’m not saying Fucito has a tendency to do that, but the point I’m making is that trauma injuries can be indications of likely future injury if they occur as a result of habit.
by Randy Meeker on Feb 19, 2012 2:20 PM PST up reply actions 1 recs
True, for concussions
and from personal experience broken ankles
still the general trend is for trauma to be less of an indication of likely future injury.

Tenney seems to be awesome at minimizing this kind of thing
Give Tenney a few weeks and hopefully this kind of thing goes away.

Tetteh replaces Sivebaek
I say again
TETTEH REPLACES SIVEBAEK
now at left mid for 2nd period. Ochoa at Target Forward. Levesque enters for Scott at RB.

Do you think they've given up on Tetteh as a Fullback?
Is he going to be a Mid full time now? If so that might help explain some of the logic behind the trade.
It would be a rush to judgement
to say that in the second period of his first preseason game.

pretty sure
it was used for nefarious reasons vastly more then prescribed
I guess if theres one thing to get someone back on their feet
its a nefarious application of tiger balm.

has tetteh impressed at all this preseason? he looked horrid with the GA team

Yeah he played bad. Saw some of the replays and he caused at least 3-4 goals for some Dutch side.

Saw him play some reserve games last season
defensive positioning was bad. Crossing ability wasn’t great. So stuff to work on either at left mid or left back.

Estrada having a crazy preseason
Like crazy enough that perhaps a small congregation of people is gathering next to a little waterfall and everyone is like ‘hey who are those people’ and some guy’s like ‘I think they call themselves the church of Estrada’

This is impressive when you think about it
Marc Burch lefts a ball to Roger Levesque running to the right post
That’s left back crossing to right back for a goal scoring opportunity.

wow
that would been huge if that ended up goal in the end result.
Even if it wasnt a goal
the fact it came close to success is kinda cool.
Yea
would like to see that in the post game highlight video.
Carrasco shifts to CB
and more changes. I’ll just quote Matt
Babayele Sodade, Andy Rose and Alex Caskey replace Cordell Cato, Patrick Ianni and David Estrada. Sodade is playing forward with Ochoa, Caskey is on the right wing and Rose is in the midfield with Seamon, with Carrasco moving to center back
BIG/BIG pairing! Two Towers!
Caskey on the right today, let’s see if that lasts.

Also interesting to note
that Carrasco is playing CB, not Rose, who has done so in the past. Also Rose and Seamon playing together is interesting.
The team won't have an update until after the game

This can also be read as "Clearling the bench against a college team"
Amadou Sanyang replaces Cordell Cato at the break. He plays right back and Roger Levesque shifts up to the right side of midfield. Alex Caskey moves to the middle with Mike Seamon moving to the left side with Michael Tetteh shifting to left back. Harlinton Gutierres comes in at center back for Servando Carrasco and Bryan Meredith replaces Andrew Weber in goal
Tetteh and Sanyang as fullbacks!

Notable 3rd period stuff
Tetteh moving back. Meredith in goal. Gutierres still with the team. Levesque back to formidfender.

any reason to look into the fact
that meredith played 3rd? and wtf about ford, does his injury fit into trauma or other?
Ford is still in Seattle
His injury is classified as a mystery. It may be related to the same knee injury that prevented him from getting his first competitive start.

Your fame is well deserved, footballer. I don’t think there’s ever been a trialist to match you. As for this young man, he insists you are Hector reborn. Or was it Hercules? Why doesn’t the hero reveal himself and tell us all your real name? You do have a name.

I would
kinda doubt it would be ngassa imo.
I'm sure that the Sounders filed a discovery claim...
on him last year before allowing him to be named and play against Man U.
Injury Update
Sounds like the team is coming together, but I want to know about EJ’s injury.
When we know something we'll have a post
As for the team coming together; this was primarily reserves against about the 30th best college team in the country.

reserves or not
i’m happy to see 5 goals, with 0 conceded. It also sounds like a few of the goals came from some great link-up play…..
Injury Update:
EJ is just fine. He said after the game that he could have kept playing. Taken out as a precautionary measure.
