This is not Sounders related per se. It's actually not even really soccer related. But it is a pretty awesome video involving Century Link Field. Give it a watch.

Since it was shot in stop motion
I have a sense people looked over and thought “wow, I wonder why only part of the lights are on tonight”.

sounds like something humans of a certain sexual category could do without giant robot vehicles.

I wonder how long it took to get film of each of those lighting arrangements.
I was going to assume it was just digital editing to black out some of the lights, and that certainly appears to be the case with the exterior lights on the north end. However, the main stadium lighting patterns look real, so they must have actually taken a shot of each lighting combination those ones. Given how long it takes to cooldown and warm up stadium lights, this must have taken some time.

Creating the effects in-camera created considerable production challenges. “Each light in the stadium had to be turned on and off individually, one at a time, and some of those stadium light towers can take up to half an hour to turn on fully,” noted Diebold. The shoot also required the stadium to be photographed in total darkness, which entailed temporarily disabling auxiliary and emergency lights.
