Mike Fucito To Sounders Fans: 'I will be forever grateful for your support'

Mike Fucito may no longer be playing for the Sounders, but he will always remember his time here.

Mike Fucito reached out today and asked if he could share some words to the greater Seattle Sounders community and of course to the readers at Sounder at Heart. We were more than happy to help him do that. The following statement was sent via email and is from he to each and every person who calls themselves a Sounder.

* * *

To the Fans, the Organization and the City of Seattle:

I just wanted to take the time to express my gratitude to all of the fans of Seattle who supported me during my time here. I came to really love the city and it was a real honor to have been able to play there. I am very much looking forward to the next time I come back to play at CenturyLink Field, even though it won't be quite the same wearing a different uniform. Seattle is a top-notch organization and I was lucky to have been a part of it. I feel that I developed both as player and as a person in my time there. More importantly, I was able to develop many meaningful relationships that I will always treasure.

That being said, I would like to personally thank the coaches, the organization, and of course, the fans for all of their support over the past two and a half years. There is no place like playing at the Clink and Seattle will always hold a special place in my heart. The fans made my time there so memorable. The energy and enthusiasm that they bring to every watch is unparalleled. As a player, it is such an advantage to have that to feed off of for 90 minutes. I wish I could individually thank each and every fan in my corner... So thank you Seattle fans. I will be forever grateful for your support. Best of luck to the Sounders in the future!

Yours Truly,
Mike Fucito

Thank you Mike!

You will be missed, but Montreal just gained a large number of fans, as I know i will not be alone in watching quite a few matches! Take care and keep being you!

Merci Beaucoup, Mike

And pour in the goals for l’Impact, except of course, when facing us. I’m sure Kansas City will breathe a little easier when they come to Seattle now.

It's actually worse for KC now.

They play the Impact three times this year!! I’m definitely watching those games :)

We will miss you

With you, Miguel, Tyson, Lamar and Sanna, I am not sure if you are joining the Impact or the Sounders second team.

We're gonna miss you Mike

I hope you’re successful in Montreal.

Unrelated, but Russ Thaler just said that Arlo White is going to be on today’s NBC SportsTalk. Replay is at 11pm.

Good Luck Mike...

I greatly admired your fierce tenacity and heart on the pitch. Montreal is lucky to have you. I look forward to watching you this season…especially as you and the Impact take down the Timbers. Five former Sounders in the lineup that day?? You should make a special request to Coach Marsch. Best of luck in 2012!

Thank you for taking the time to reach out, Mike

You may be an Impacticon (I still dont know what word we’re using) but it’s good to know you’ll always be a Sounder at heart.

You will be missed...

But hey, you’ve given just about every reader of this site a reason to vote for l’Impact, at least when they aren’t playing the Rave Green.

Everything negative I've said about Mike has been in an attempt to cope with his loss.

He was a great player for us and he’ll forever be a Sounder in the eyes of many.

I met a possum.

Come back next year Mike!

When your contract expires, we hope you’ll think about coming back to Seattle! At least we’ll dream about it

since the trade

I have got a mike fucito and lamar neagle home sounders shirt. every year, the sounders have lost players and they will continue to lose players each season after this one. but I hold the loss of fucito and neagle right up there with the loss of le toux. i will definetly be wearing my fucito or neagle home shirt during the santos laguna matches.

From the fans: The pleasure was all ours

It was always fun watching you battle on the field for the Sounders. Best of luck in Montreal!

MIKE FUCITO!!!

Last summer, I was sitting in the passenger side of a car while I waited for my girlfriend on a side street in Greenlake. I look out the window and see Mike Fucito walking down the sidewalk…and my first and only instict was to scramble to the driver side and yell out the window to the other side of the street…“MIKE FUCITO!!!! You’re awesome!” Hearing the comotion, Roger pokes his head around the corner to which I yell “AND ROGER LEVESQUE!”.

They gave me The Nod and continued on their way not sure what to make of what just happened. I wanted to crawl under a rock and hide. But that memory will always stay with me.

Good luck Mike!

After the huge game-winner vs KC

Arlo said that Fucito would likely not have to buy his own beer in Seattle for a good long time. I’d submit that this is still true.

We’re rooting for you in Montreal!!
